Manchester United continue to chase new signings for Erik ten Hag’s squad as the new Premier League season draws ever closer.

As July comes towards its close, Manchester United fans can be pretty happy with the business being done.

Two signings arrived this month with Joshua Zirkzee coming in from Bologna to bolster Erik ten Hag’s striking options.

Zirkzee was then followed by wonderkid Leny Yoro as United pulled off a huge move for the Lille defender.

United are chasing a number of players in the hope of continuing to bolster Ten Hag’s squad for years to come.

For instance, United are hoping to sign Chido Obi-Martin after he confirmed his departure from Arsenal.

Noussair Mazraoui to Manchester United latest

Obi-Martin is one for the future but United are also hoping to land immediate first-team additions.

Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui has emerged as a key target of late as Ten Hag chases a reunion.

Ten Hag coached the Moroccan at Ajax and even asked United to sign Mazraoui in 2022, but couldn’t prevent him from joining Bayern.

Mazraoui hasn’t exactly seen that move pay off though having struggled for consistent starts.

United now want to sign Mazraoui this summer with Ten Hag keen to finally land his man for around £16million.

Reports on Sunday suggested that United had agreed personal terms with Mazraoui ahead of a potential deal.

New claims from reporter Ben Jacobs now suggest that Mazraoui wants to leave and has communicated that decision to Bayern.

The Bundesliga giants are unlikely to stand in Mazraoui’s way after two bit-part campaigns in Bavaria.

A five-year deal at Old Trafford is now thought to be in place with Mazraoui ready to join forces with Ten Hag once again.

Bayern double deal assessed

Mazraoui isn’t the only former Ajax player Ten Hag wants to sign.

In fact, the defender isn’t even the only Bayern Munich player Ten Hag wants to sign.

Centre back Matthijs de Ligt has agreed personal terms with United having emerged as a key target this summer.

De Ligt is in a similar boat to Mazraoui; struggling for major playing time in Bavaria having previously excelled under Ten Hag in Amsterdam.

United prioritised the signing of Yoro though and have seen a bid of around £30million rejected for De Ligt.

Some may wonder if United can strike a double deal and bring in De Ligt alongside Mazraoui.

However, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg now claims that there are ‘no plans’ for De Ligt and Mazraoui to be a package deal.

Plettenberg claims that the two moves are being treated completely separately.

Plettenberg adds that United have held ‘direct and positive talks’ over a deal to sign Mazraoui.

It’s added that ‘nothing will stand in the way’ of Mazraoui signing for United – providing that Aaron Wan-Bissaka joins West Ham United.

The Hammers are in talks to sign Wan-Bissaka having been snubbed, rather ironically, by Mazraoui himself.

United appear to be moving closer to signing Mazraoui, viewing him as ideal competition at both right back and left back.

That versatility could come in very handy for United moving forward and Ten Hag will hope to get him signed up quickly whilst moving Wan-Bissaka on to pastures new.
