Man Utd now want to sign £20m ‘warrior’ who just won a major trophy alongside Alex Telles

Manchester United look likely to undergo yet another rebuild in 2025 with Ineos only guaranteeing a handful of players their future. This will lead to numerous signings.

It feels as though Manchester United have been in a rebuilding stage for over a decade now.

However, with Ruben Amorim as head coach, and the team of Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell, all signs suggest this will be different.

Ineos only consider six United players unsellable, which points to the massive turnover of players we could soon see occur within Old Trafford.

Step one of this rebuild will be to sign Amorim a new left wing-back, with the position becoming more evidently a weakness.

But Ineos won’t stop there, and now it could be Andre Onana who ends up under pressure with a quality goalkeeper now a target.

John Victor targeted as Andre Onana competition

After a hot start to this season, Onana has been atrocious lately, making several high-profile errors. These have ended up costing United goals and points.

Now, according to Alan Nixon, United are keen to sign a player to push Onana and offer a realistic alternative for Amorim.

The hunt for a suitable player has taken Ineos to South America and Brazil with Botafogo’s John Victor an option.

Victor is fresh off playing a pivotal role in Botafogo’s Brazilian Serie A title and Copa Libertadores triumph – alongside former United full-back Alex Telles – and is tipped to have a price tag of £20m.

After an incredible season, Victor was voted as the best player in Brazil, which is quite the praise.

The 28-year-old is willing to fight for the jersey at United against Onana, giving Amorim options which he doesn’t have right now with Altay Bayindir.

Manchester United looking to use the South American market

Victor looks a very solid goalkeeping option, with his Botafogo teammate Philipe Sampaio describing him on Instagram as a “Guerreiro”, which translates to “warrior”.

The Brazilian is not the only South American United could sign in 2025, as Ineos are clearly keen to utilise the market.

17-year-old wing-back Diego Leon is on the verge of joining United, a move which fits exactly into Ineos’ recruitment strategy.

Franco Mastantuono is another who United have an interest in, although he looks the least likely of now.

After years of ignoring South America and missing out on Moises Caicedo and Julian Alvarez, it is exciting to see the club making use of the scouting.
