Cristiano Ronaldo continues to make headlines with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia but the move hasn’t gone quite as well for one former Manchester United teammate.
It’s fair to say that Cristiano Ronaldo’s second stint at Manchester United didn’t quite go to plan.
The legendary goalscorer came back to Old Trafford in 2021 and the pure numbers look great – 27 goals in 54 appearances.
Ronaldo moved on in 2022 though amid a complete breakdown in his relationship with Erik ten Hag.
Saudi Arabia was the next destination for Ronaldo, joining Al Nassr to really kickstart the wave of transfers to the Saudi Pro League.
Ronaldo now wants to hit 1000 career goals, which may well be feasible after 68 goals in just 74 games for Al Nassr.

Alex Telles leaves Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr
Just months after Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr, he was joined in Saudi Arabia by a former United teammate.
United agreed to sell left back Alex Telles to Al Nassr, allowing him to join forces with Ronaldo once again.
The deal was worth £4million with Telles penning a deal to earn a staggering £135,000-a-week in the Middle East.
31-year-old Telles has now turned out 38 times for Al Nassr, recording three goals and five assists in the process.
Telles has now seen his Al Nassr career come to an end after just over a year with the club.
Al Nassr have today confirmed that Telles has had his contract terminated by mutual consent, allowing him to move on for free.
Ronaldo was the one who convinced Telles to quit United for a move to Al Nassr having seemingly struck up a strong bond at Old Trafford.
Saudi Arabia’s transfer window closes today (Monday, September 2) and this decision may pave the way for Telles to land a new club.
Telles won’t be short of interest
Telles has been a regular in Europe and now Saudi Arabia for years now with his attacking play up the left flank making him a threat.
Teams back in Brazil may be keen to bring Telles home whilst some transfer windows in Europe remain open.
Belgium, Greece, Netherlands, Portugal and Turkey are some of the notable nations who can still bring in new signings.
Telles may even join a Saudi Arabian rival yet with teams surely interested in landing the Brazilian.
A return to United won’t be possible with the left back released outside of the English transfer window.
United have issues aplenty at left back and some fans may have been willing to bring Telles back on a short-term deal, but that won’t be possible after his Al Nassr exit.
