Man Utd now increasing attention in £49m star, Ineos in complete agreement over signing Casemiro replacement

The midfield group at Manchester United has needed some reinforcements all season, and now Ineos have settled on the ideal addition.

Ruben Amorim knew he had a tough challenge on his hands when he took the role of Manchester United head coach, but he may not have envisioned it being so tough.

Several positions already look desperately in need of new faces, with left wing-back Amorim’s priority.

That being said, additions from goalkeeper to striker are needed, and now a midfielder seems to be on Ineos‘ agenda in the new year. It is arguable that in the position only Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte have futures, with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen likely to leave.

With this in mind, signing a midfielder who fits the mould of an Amorim midfielder is of the utmost importance.

Manchester United decide on Ederson

In order to bolster the midfield, countless names have been linked since the close of the summer transfer window. Yet it looks like Atalanta’s Ederson is the name favoured within Old Trafford.

Ederson’s performances have been convincing those inside Carrington this season and now Tutto Mercato has claimed there is total agreement over targeting the Brazilian.

According to the report, Ederson’s growth is becoming undeniable with United among Europe’s elite now courting the midfielder.

United are said to have increased attention in Ederson and the club’s transfer department is totally satisfied in signing him as a replacement for Casemiro.

Atalanta are looking to receive around €60m (£49m) for Ederson, a fee which is more than fair for the talented midfield destroyer, who happens to be the ideal Ugarte partner.

Ederson and Manuel Ugarte would be an incredible pairing

With Mainoo struggling so far under Amorim, adding a more experienced, yet still prime option to take the pressure off the 19-year-old would be a very wise move from United.

Ederson would be exactly this.

Ugarte and Ederson both boast excellent engines and have top work rates, suiting Amorim’s demand for his team to run like dogs.

Meanwhile, they are also well-rounded and account for each other’s weak spots.

Ugarte’s ultimate threats come off the ball – while Ederson shines in a number of areas across the midfield lines.

Combined, this could be an unbeatable midfield duo for Amorim to put together.

Atalanta are likely unwilling to sell in January given their Serie A title contention, but if Casemiro goes then United should test the Italian side’s resolve.
