Manchester United were exploring a potential summer transfer swoop for one emerging talent in the Bundesliga ahead of signing Senne Lammens, according to reports in Germany.
Senne Lammens was Manchester United’s fifth and final signing of the 2025 summer window, with the 23-year-old Belgian arriving at Old Trafford on deadline day.
United agreed a deal with Belgian Pro League side Royal Antwerp to sign Lammens for an initial fee of £18.1m, including add-ons in the transfer deal.
The Red Devils settled on the former Royal Antwerp star as their main summer target for a new shot-stopping option ahead of Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez.
Lammens has impressed in United training so far, but Ruben Amorim has now handed the Belgian prospect his Red Devils debut at the time of writing.

Man Utd identified Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kaua Santos as a ‘late’ summer transfer target before turning to Senne Lammens
Kaua Santos has been linked with Manchester United in the past and Bild has claimed that the Red Devils reignited their interest in him in the summer.
According to the German newspaper, the 22-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt shot-stopper was on the radar of United and Wolves ‘towards the end’ of the window.
It has been claimed that the Red Devils ‘came knocking again’ for the Brazilian and were ‘willing to put’ between €25m to €30m ‘on the table’ to sign him.
Kaua Santos has been with Eintracht Frankfurt since 2023 after he was signed from Brazilian side Flamengo and was placed in the German club’s reserve side at first.
The former Flamengo talent has since broken into the Bundesliga club’s first team and Santos has played 15 times for Eintracht Frankfurt’s senior side.
Why did Man Utd sign Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp instead of landing Kaua Santos from Eintracht Frankfurt?
Kaua Santos is under contract until 2030 with Eintracht Frankfurt and the German club have slapped a hefty price tag on the Brazilian of around £50m (€60m).
However, Bild reports that the former Volta Redonda and Pedreira Vassouras talent wanted to remain at the Deutsche Bank Park beyond the summer.
The German outlet claims that Santos and Frankfurt ‘blocked the offer’ and United ‘then’ switched their pursuit to Senne Lammens before the window closed.
It is believed that Santos ruled out an ‘early exit’ from Frankfurt and has a ‘clear commitment’ to the Bundesliga outfit for the 2025-26 campaign.
According to reports, United-linked Santos wants to ‘continue improving’ at the club and ‘become even more consistent’ amid his ongoing development at 22 years old.
