Manchester United will set their sights on signing a new striker after wrapping up a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.

Ruben Amorim was far from pleased with Manchester United’s attacking output last season, and it seems he will head into 2025/26 with an entirely new-look attack.

Matheus Cunha arrived on the first day of the window and now a £65m Bryan Mbeumo deal has been made official. Next up, Fabrizio Romano insists United will sign a striker next.

The Red Devils have already missed out on several striker targets with Liam Delap snubbing United for Chelsea, while Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike are close to joining Arsenal and Liverpool respectively.

Ineos have now drawn up a new three-man shortlist for the striker position.

Man United target three strikers who are dominant in one area

With Cunha and Mbeumo already signed, the final piece of the puzzle is to sign a central striker and there are three players being considered by Ineos.

According to David Ornstein at The Athletic, Benjamin Sesko, Ollie Watkins and Nicolas Jackson are all targets being considered by Ineos this summer.

United’s scouts love Sesko’s aerial prowess, and it turns out that is a trait that all three targets share.

According to Watkins’ WhoScored profile, he has three key strengths: Finishing, key passes and heading attempts.

United have held talks with Jackson’s agent over a potential move, and his WhoScored profile also reveals that the Chelsea forward is dominant in the air, ranking highly for headed attempts as well.

Sesko has been compared to Erling Haaland due to his physical traits, and standing at 6ft 5in, he would be an ideal target man for Ruben Amorim’s system.

Ruben Amorim wants a physical striker at Man United

Since arriving in Manchester and taking his first assessment of the squad, Amorim said United need more physicality to compete in the Premier League.

It explains why Amorim has recruited from the Premier League this summer, with Cunha and Mbeumo arriving as the two major signings.

If that pattern continues, it suggests Amorim would want either Watkins or Jackson to be signed this summer, but Sesko also looks well-built for English football.

Mbeumo and Cunha will add lots of attacking threat out wide for United, and they will provide much more creativity for a centre-forward, especially one who is dominant in the air.

Of the three options, Sesko is expected to cost £68m – the most out of the three options. Meanwhile, both Villa and Chelsea could be open to swap deals including Alejandro Garnacho.
