Man United told chances of signing player Ruben Amorim loves – Sir Jim Ratcliffe is already working to change situations like these

Despite the January transfer window being a notoriously difficult market to navigate, Manchester United are expected to be one of the busiest clubs.

Several players are linked with leaving the club, including Marcus Rashford, who hopes to join Barcelona, while Alejandro Garnacho is subject to interest from Napoli and West Ham.

Ruben Amorim would like to make at least one new signing this month. Nuno Mendes has been made a key target and possible replacement for Juventus-linked Tyrell Malacia.

It isn’t just defenders the Man United manager would like to bring to Old Trafford though.

Ruben Amorim told chances of signing Bryan Mbeumo

In the market for a forward if others leave, Amorim has included Mbeumo on his transfer shortlist.

Although not a luxury name in the Premier League, Mbeumo is one of the country’s most underrated performers.

Mbeumo’s consistency outranks Rashford’s. The 25-year-old is on course to better United’s number 10’s best-ever domestic campaign.

Amorim has received the worst possible news about his links to Mbeumo though. Speaking to reporters ahead of the Bees’ game against Liverpool, Thomas Frank defiantly shut down any suggestion his number 19 will be leaving the Gtech Community Stadium this month.

“No. It’ll be that big a fee that I can’t imagine the size of the fee,” the Brentford boss said when asked if he’s worried about Mbeumo leaving. “I’m not even focusing on keeping my best players, I’m just expecting them to stay.”

A crushing blow for Amorim and any other team looking to poach the Avallon-born hitman away from London.

Overspending days are over

Spending the best part of £1.5 billion since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 and having very little to show for it, it is understandable why Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to change the club’s approach to spending.

The British billionaire wants the Red Devils to use their finances more strategically, suggesting their days of overspending are over. Just look at these numbers and then consider these five managers lifted just four major trophies between them.

A truly staggering level of incompetence from arguably England’s most popular club.

So, needless to say, taking all of this into consideration, irrespective of Frank’s ‘if you want him, you’ve got to pay for him’ plea, United will not be signing Mbeumo this month, and with his deal at Brentford running until 2027, may not be in the mix in the summer, either.
