Manchester United have identified Atalanta’s Ederson as a top midfield target for the summer.
Ruben Amorim is in dire need of reinforcements this summer after Manchester United’s extremely disappointing Premier League campaign.
Ineos are planning to raise £100m in sales this summer to raise enough funds to invest in Amorim’s squad.
The top priority will be signing a striker, but with Christian Eriksen set to leave and Casemiro facing an uncertain future, a new midfielder will also be on the shopping list.
Ineos want a young, athletic midfielder to partner the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte, and United have been linked with Ederson.

Ederson explains his playing style, it’s perfect for Ruben Amorim
During his first few months as United head coach, Amorim has spotted United’s lack of physicality, with the Red Devils too often outrun and outfought by opponents.
Amorim’s first two signings were Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven in January – two signings who are both athletic and add to United’s physicality.
It makes sense, then, why Amorim is keen to sign Ederson this summer with the Brazilian a powerhouse in Atalanta’s midfield.
When Ederson signed for Atalanta in a £20m move in 2022, he explained his playing style to his new fans and he sounds like the ideal midfielder for Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.
“My features are the ability to keep the ball, and the strength. I can play both defensive and attacking football,” Ederson said via Atalanta’s YouTube channel.
“I find it easy to attack the space, as I did against Atalanta, that’s how I scored.”
Ederson’s ‘dream’ is to play in the Champions League
Since joining Atalanta, Ederson has been able to experience Champions League football with the Italian side this season.
In his first interview with the club, he made it clear that playing in Europe is his “dream”.
“First of all, I would like to return to the Champions League. When we started negotiating, it was one of the goals.
“My dream is to play in the Champions League.”

United’s only hope of qualifying for the Champions League is if Ruben Amorim wins the Europa League this season.
United will move for Ederson if they win the Europa League as it’s understood that he would want to move to another Champions League club. Reports suggest that Ederson will cost around £50m if United make a move for him.
