Manchester United are reportedly close to finalising their first summer transfer deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

The summer rebuild looks as though it will start with Ederson arriving at Old Trafford this summer.

Ederson is prioritising United over all other interested clubs, and Ineos appear to be closing in on a deal.

Reports claim Ederson will cost around £38 million to sign this summer, and it has now been revealed how that deal will be broken down and structured.

How much Man United will pay for Ederson

According to journalist Lyall Thomas from Sky Sports, United are close to agreeing a deal worth £38m for Ederson.

It is expected to be broken down into a £35 million guaranteed fee with £3 million achievable through add-ons.

He claims an agreement could be reached by the end of the week.

The Premier League transfer window is set to open on June 15, meaning that is the earliest date that Ederson can be registered.

It is unclear whether United will agree to pay Ederson’s fee over multiple instalments to spread the cost over several financial periods.

How Ederson impacts Man United’s transfer budget

It seems as though Ederson will kickstart United’s midfield rebuild, and a £38 million transfer fee will only take a small chunk out of the summer budget.

Reports claim United have a £150 million budget to spend on midfielders, with three signings expected.

If Ederson is signed for a £35 million guaranteed fee, it means Ineos will still have around £115 million to spend.

Elliot Anderson is valued at £115 million, but breaking the transfer record for the Nottingham Forest midfielder would completely empty the budget, leaving nothing for a third signing.
