Manchester United have made Elliot Anderson a top transfer target this summer but Ineos will have to pay a huge fee to make it happen.
Out of all 24 midfield targets on Manchester United’s radar, it is Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson who Ineos have put at the top of the list.
Last weekend, Anderson starred at Old Trafford, producing two assists as Michael Carrick’s side won 3-2.
But reports suggest Anderson could cost £125m this summer, which would break United’s biggest transfer fee record, currently held by the £89m paid for Paul Pogba.

Will Man Utd pay over £100m for Elliot Anderson?
According to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, United are “unlikely” to bid anything over £100 million for Anderson’s signature.
There is rival interest in Anderson from Manchester City, and they are named as “clear frontrunners” in the transfer race.
Forest are in a strong negotiating position because Anderson has a contract until 2029, and City are more likely to match their asking price.
United have a £150m budget to rebuild the midfield, and Ineos want to ideally make three signings.
Paying such a big fee for Anderson would take a huge bite out of United’s budget and leave little flexibility for any other signings.

Ineos should make statement with Elliot Anderson bid
In recent years, United have let world-class midfielders slip through their grasp because they weren’t willing to pay huge transfer fees.
Ineos have improved United’s transfer business since the takeover, but in order to push for a Premier League title, they will need to pay top dollar.
If Anderson is perfect for United’s midfield rebuild, then Ineos have the chance to make a statement of intent by rivalling City’s bid.
Of course, United have alternatives to Anderson, but missing out on the Forest star would immediately put Ineos on the back foot and looking for second-best options.
