Manchester United want to sign Elliot Anderson as the top priority, but Ineos may be forced to consider alternative options.

On Sunday afternoon, Elliot Anderson starred at Old Trafford as Manchester United won 3-2 vs Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Elliot Anderson picked up two assists at the Theatre of Dreams, and that will only add to United’s interest.

However, Anderson is set to cost £125m this summer and there is also rival interest from Manchester City. If the 23-year-old is unavailable, Ineos have an alternative in the shape of a Carrington graduate.

Man United told best midfield alternative to Elliot Anderson

There are as many as 24 midfield targets on United’s radar. While Anderson may be the top priority, another option is former United star James Garner.

According to Sky Sports and their analysis, Garner is the best midfield alternative to Anderson when their player profiles are compared.

The report points out that Garner tops Premier League charts for tackles, and he also ranks higher than Anderson for big chances created and not losing possession.

If United want a player with similar attributes to Anderson, then Garner is the best option. However, signing the Everton midfielder could prove difficult.
