In efforts to strengthen at left-back this summer, Manchester United have identified Lewis Hall as the primary option. Now the player’s stance on this move has been revealed.
The 2025/26 season saw Luke Shaw have his best-ever season for Manchester United as he started every single Premier League game, which is an incredible feat.
But Shaw will be 31 by the time the 2026/27 season kicks off, and the chances of his fitness record remaining this good are unfortunately quite slim with the increased game load.
Due to this, United are considering Lewis Hall as the best option on the market right now. But the one big hurdle would be getting the 21-year-old out of Newcastle, with whom United don’t have the friendliest of a relationship.

What is a fair price to pay to sign Lewis Hall?

Lewis Hall wants a move to Manchester United
Hall is considered among the next possible signings for United this summer, following the agreement to sign Ederson.
But the question was always whether he would be open to joining United.
The Sun has now reported the answer to both these questions.
According to the report, there are tensions between Hall and Eddie Howe right now, with the Newcastle boss putting Dan Burn ahead of him.
This means that if a deal was struck with Newcastle, Hall would be open to joining United this summer, with Champions League football the likely sweetener.
While it doesn’t explicitly declare he wants to leave, it certainly suggests he does.

Manchester United shouldn’t hesitate over Lewis Hall move
Hall is likely to cost between £50-70m this summer for United, but with Newcastle already selling Anthony Gordon, they won’t be easy to negotiate with.
But the price is set, and United wants him. So there isn’t any point in waiting any longer.
Ineos have a concerning habit of working on just one deal at a time during the summer transfer window, but that can’t go on with the amount of work needed this summer.
By the time pre-season rolls around this time next month, Michael Carrick will want Hall and probably Mateus Fernandes at the very least to be involved.
Anything less, and the club may be setting him up to fail.
