Marcus Rashford has made it clear he wants to stay at Barcelona once his Manchester United loan expires but Anthony Gordon’s move complicates matters.
All season long, there have been back-and-forth reports about whether Barcelona want to sign Marcus Rashford permanently or not.
There is a £26 million buy option for Rashford, but it expires in mid-June. Barcelona want a second loan deal, but United have taken a firm stance against that.
Now, Anthony Gordon has agreed to join Barcelona in an €80 million deal, which leaves Rashford’s future up in the air.

What are Michael Carrick’s three biggest priorities this summer to prepare for 2026/27?🤔
The Manchester United head coach has so much work to do…
Marcus Rashford reacts to Anthony Gordon to Barcelona
Gordon’s medical at Barcelona is already being scheduled and it seems the Newcastle winger is days away from being announced as a new signing at Camp Nou.
Considering Gordon plays the same position as Rashford, the United loanee now finds himself in a tricky position.
According to The Athletic, sources close to Rashford insist no decision has been communicated to them by Barcelona.
Rashford is still hopeful that there is a chance of remaining at the club next season alongside Gordon.
However, club chiefs at Barcelona admit that Gordon’s arrival means Rashford’s chances of staying are now “complicated”.
Marcus Rashford evidently does not want to return to Man Utd – There is no way back for him surely?!

Marcus Rashford may have to explore options
Earlier this season, Michael Carrick did not rule out a Rashford return at Old Trafford, but it seems very unlikely.
Even if Rashford doesn’t join Barcelona, it seems he will join another club this summer.
Aston Villa remain interested in Rashford if he wants a return to Premier League football.
If not, Bayern Munich have been in the market for a winger and wanted Gordon before he struck a deal with Barcelona. Rashford could push for a move to join the German champions.
It is Rashford’s £350,000 per week wages that make him a difficult signing for any top club, though.
