Manchester United continue to be linked with Aurelien Tchouameni but there are so many conflicting reports about what is actually happening in this transfer saga.

Let’s get one thing straight before we begin: Manchester United are interested in Aurelien Tchouameni, that much is irrefutable.

After missing out on top targets Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, it seems Ineos have pivoted towards Aurelien Tchouameni as the marquee signing for United’s midfield rebuild.

But United fans are being swamped with information, most of which is conflicting and contradictory.

Five Aurelien Tchouameni to Man United questions

From both England and Spain, there have been so many reports on Tchouameni, and some media sources are saying vastly different things.

How much will Aurelien Tchouameni cost?

As recently as last month, it was claimed that Tchouameni is valued at £70 million this summer, which is well within United’s budget.

However, Latigo Serrano, a Real Madrid journalist, has since claimed that Tchouameni will only be sold for a fee that exceeds the £130 million deal for Elliot Anderson.

Speaking on YouTube, Serrano said: For €100 million, Real Madrid simply won’t sell him right now – Mourinho would set the club offices on fire.

“I’m telling you, I’d be very surprised if Madrid sold Tchouaméni for ‘market value’. And by ‘market value,’ I mean the kind of fees we’ve seen for players like Elliot Anderson.

What wages will Man Utd need to pay Aurelien Tchouameni?

Not only do United need to agree a fee with Madrid, but Ineos will also have to agree personal terms with Tchouameni and convince him to move to Old Trafford.

It is widely agreed that Tchouameni earns around £205,000 per week at Madrid. But reports around what United will have to pay in wages is where it becomes muddied.

Some reports say Tchouameni is demanding a pay rise, and if Ineos agree it could put him among the club’s top earners.

But Fabrizio Romano is reporting that United have told Tchouameni he must take a pay cut if he is going to move to Old Trafford.

Is Aurelien Tchouameni open to joining Man Utd?

Ineos have made it clear in their transfer business so far that they will only sign players who are “desperate” to play for United.

A glance back at United’s business proves that Ineos only act once they get a green light from a player that they want the move.

So has Tchouameni opened the doors to United? Once again, reports are conflicted.

A report from Flashscore claims Tchouameni is open to joining United, but reporter Pablo Gallego (via Tribuna) claims that Tchouameni wants to stay in Spain.

Are Real Madrid open to selling Tchouameni?

With Jose Mourinho now at the helm at Real Madrid and Florentino Perez staying on as president, signing Tchouameni also relies on the Spanish giants being open to a deal.

While some claim United have begun Tchouameni talks with Madrid open to an offer, TeamTalk report that Mourinho wants Tchouameni to stay and that he is not considered for sale.

Have Man Utd made an offer for Tchouameni?

The latest reports this week are that United have offered Tchouameni a contract, described as a “lucrative” five-year deal.

But Jose Luis Sanchez, a respected Spanish journalist, claims United’s talks with Madrid are scheduled to take place but are yet to happen.

The report was also said to be wide of the mark Ramon Alvarez, who claims that Tchouameni is definitely staying at Madrid this season.
