Aurelien Tchouameni’s latest update is proof that Man Utd have cracked the hard part of this transfer

Manchester United have cracked the hardest part of signing Aurelien Tchouameni if the latest transfer update is any indication.

The transfer window has been open for just around three weeks, but there is already an inkling that the success or failure of this window for Man Utd depends on Aurelien Tchouameni.

Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes’ races were conceded due to valuations, but it will only be worth it if Ineos sign a better player for a lesser fee.

Tchouameni fits the bill perfectly, and the latest update on his future shows United might have cracked the hardest part of the deal.

Man Utd begin club contacts for Aurelien Tchouameni

Before Ineos took charge of transfers at Old Trafford, the update of the club getting in touch with Real Madrid for Tchouameni would be business as usual.

In fact, it might even prompt some worry among Man Utd fans, considering the Glazer management spent the whole window in touch with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong, before realising the player doesn’t want to join.

In contrast, an update like this under Ineos is huge because the new management simply doesn’t engage with the club if the player isn’t interested in signing.

Considering that Tchouameni’s stance on leaving Madrid was the major stumbling block, Ineos getting in touch with Madrid means there has been a breakthrough, and they’ve got the player’s head turned.

Of course, this is all based on evidence we have of two summer windows, because this is how Ineos have operated and earned this trust.

Seeing how Fernandes went to Spurs despite United negotiating with West Ham for three weeks, it might be a repeat, but until that happens, there is more evidence of Ineos’ success than their failure.

Man Utd’s window hinges on Tchouameni deal

Ineos have burned through the fan credit they earned from the transfer window last summer by pulling out of deals for two of their top targets.

The prevailing sentiment is again coming from a default position of doubt and panic rather than trust, which Ineos earned last summer.

It won’t be an exaggeration to say that the fate of this window depends on them landing Tchouameni, at which point all will be forgotten.

The window is in an all-in position now, where the management either comes out looking like geniuses, or an extension of the Glazers.
