Manchester United are pushing to sign a midfielder this summer amid questions over Christian Eriksen’s future.

The new Premier League season is just over 24 hours away as Manchester United prepare to take on Fulham on Friday night.

Erik ten Hag has been given a major boost this week with two new signings finalising moves to Old Trafford.

Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui have joined United this week, finally arriving from Bayern Munich.

Those deals have been rumoured for weeks but United have got them over the line.

The pair are now in contention to face Fulham on Friday, but whether Christian Eriksen is involved remains to be seen.

Christian Eriksen transfer latest

Eriksen started just 12 Premier League games last season and his future has been in doubt for a while now.

The Dane admitted being unsure about his future back in April whilst reports suggested that Ineos were ready to offload Eriksen.

Eriksen is thought to earn around £150,000-a-week in wages and that isn’t really value for money right now.

United would surely be open to letting Eriksen leave with his contract expiring next summer.

Sky Sports now claim that United are expecting formal bids for Eriksen before the transfer deadline later this month.

It’s suggested that a ‘number of clubs’ are exploring deals to sign Eriksen.

No teams are named but Eriksen appears to be at the centre of major transfer interest in the final stages of the summer window.

Praised as ‘world class’ by Rasmus Hojlund, Eriksen may well decide to leave United and chase first-team action elsewhere.

Manchester United’s midfield in flux

The rumours around Eriksen just continue the speculation surrounding United’s midfield options.

Napoli, Everton and Bournemouth want Scott McTominay with United open to offers of around £25million.

Casemiro looks set to stay but Eriksen and McTominay could be on the move as United look at a host of midfield targets.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte is the top target amid weeks of speculation surrounding a deal.

United are ‘optimistic’ over a deal for Ugarte according to the latest reports but other options have been linked.

Burnley’s Sander Berge is a United target whilst Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana has been the subject of United enquiries.

With De Ligt and Mazraoui now on board, United’s focus may be midfielders in the final weeks of the window – both in terms of incomings and outgoings.
