Ineos now ready to offload £150k-a-week Manchester United player

Manchester United will bring in a new era this summer as Ineos prepare to oversee their first transfer window since arriving at Old Trafford.

United fans are expecting to see a much more coherent operation off the pitch with Ineos seizing control of football operations.

That includes transfer business, with United clearly needing a boost in that regard.

United have often overpaid for targets and have brought in players who have regressed quickly after their peak, like Raphael Varane and Casemiro.

Ineos are likely to push for younger signings, believing in bringing in top talents who can become superstars at United, rather than paying up for players whose best days may already be behind them.

It may take a few windows for Ineos to really put their plan into place but there could be a real focus on moving out experienced high-earners this summer.

Varane and Casemiro spring to mind, but so does Christian Eriksen – and the Dane could be on his way out this summer.

Christian Eriksen future

The Mirror now report that Eriksen will be allowed to leave United on a permanent basis this summer.

Eriksen is about to enter the final year of his United contract and Ineos seem ready to cash in – even if the incoming fee is unlikely to be huge.

Eriksen earns around £150,000-a-week at Old Trafford and a new deal seemingly isn’t in the pipeline.

The 32-year-old has only started nine Premier League games this season and was an unused substitute against Brentford on Saturday.

Eriksen just isn’t playing regularly enough for United and has recently told Erik ten Hag of his unhappiness at not starting games.

With the Danish media concerned about Eriksen’s lack of football heading into Euro 2024, Eriksen may well decided that it’s time to leave United, two years since arriving from Brentford.

Galatasaray interest

The Mirror’s report adds that Galatasaray have already registered their interest in a move to bring Eriksen to Turkey.

We saw Fred head to Turkey with Fenerbahce last summer and Galatasaray now seem to be trying their luck with Eriksen.

Galatasaray actually beat United back in October and have a former United talent – Wilfried Zaha – in their ranks already.

Maybe Eriksen fancies something new after spending most of the last 11 years in the Premier League, save for a spell in Italy with Inter Milan.

Eriksen may still back himself to shine in the Premier League though, especially having been so good for Brentford before his move to United.

This next move will be crucial for Eriksen as he heads into his mid-30’s, and he will be desperate to play regularly with first-team chances at United hard to come by.
