Manchester United are still in the market for an attacking signing but one rumoured target can surely be ruled out now.

The transfer deadline is now just hours away and Manchester United’s business may well be done and dusted.

United have secured two new signings, adding to Ruben Amorim’s squad over the weekend.

Defender Ayden Heaven joined United from Arsenal with the teenager completing his switch to Manchester.

United then snapped up Patrick Dorgu in a big move from Lecce, viewing him as the left wing back of the future.

That may well be that for this window despite reports suggesting that an attacking signings is wanted.

Strange Manchester United rumour played down

Marcus Rashford has joined Aston Villa and whilst he has been exiled under Amorim, not finding a replacement will frustrate many fans.

United have been linked with potential signings, such as Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.

Tel is now joining Tottenham Hotspur though and United won’t be singing Christopher Nkunku with a loan approach thrown out by Chelsea.

With just hours of the window to go, we would now be surprised to see United pounce for a new forward.

One surprise name was mentioned over the weekend with United allegedly keen to sign El Bilal Toure from Stuttgart.

The Malian forward was actually signed by Atalanta to replace Rasmus Hojlund following his move to United in 2023.

Now on loan at Stuttgart, Toure has been linked with a shock move to United.

However, Bild’s Julian Agardi claims that there is ‘no truth’ in any rumours linking Toure with a move to United.

The initial claims suggested that Stuttgart would sign Toure permanently and then immediately sell him to United for a profit.

Agardi states that Stuttgart do not have plans to sign Toure permanently though, never mind thinking about selling him on.

Translation: There is no truth to the rumours about Manchester United being interested in El Bilal Touré! The following still applies: VfB will definitely not exercise the purchase option of 16 million euros. It is still uncertain when Touré will return to the pitch.

El Bilal Toure injury a factor

Agardi adds that Stuttgart aren’t even sure when Toure will be back fit again given that he hasn’t played since November.

The 23-year-old suffered a fractured metatarsal nearly three months ago but still hasn’t returned to action.

That means there will be no move to United and most likely no permanent move to Stuttgart.

Toure was a hot prospect at Almeria but his move to Atalanta and his injury-hit spell with Stuttgart appear to have set him back.

Taking a punt on Toure – especially permanently rather than on loan – just doesn’t make sense for United right now and we would be stunned to see him at Old Trafford any time soon.
