Transfer expert David Ornstein has provided an alarming update on Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United future as the January window draws to a close.
It has been over a month since Marcus Rashford’s bombshell interview where he openly stated he is ready for a new challenge.
His comments arrived just hours after Ruben Amorim dropped Rashford for the Manchester derby and questioned his attitude and work ethic in training.
The Manchester United boss doubled down this week with his post-Fulham comments suggesting Amorim would play his goalkeeping coach ahead of a player who doesn’t give their maximum.
Having now failed to appear in 11 consecutive matches for United, an exit for Marcus Rashford seems inevitable but he is running out of time to get a deal over the line. Rashford wants to join Barcelona but the Spanish giants are facing financial and registration problems that make a move difficult.

David Ornstein provides Marcus Rashford update
It has been a relatively quiet January for United so far, but it seems the Rashford saga will rumble on until the final days of the window.
Speaking to United legend Paul Scholes on The Overlap, David Ornstein has provided an update on Rashford’s future and explained why the situation is now a “complete mess”.
“The biggest problem in the Rashford situation is the finances involved. If he was more affordable I think he would have made the move by now,” Ornstein said.
“Initially United wanted 100% of his wages covered but as the market draws towards a close, if you desperately want him out you’re going to accept lower.
“Then you ask Marcus Rashford if he’s willing to take a haircut on his salary. Most players wouldn’t because they’ve signed their contract. How much do you want to get playing elsewhere? How much do you work your way back into plans at Man United? Is the door truly open for you to work your way back in?
“It’s a complete mess. I think it would be surprising if something can’t be resolved for him to play the second half of the season elsewhere.”
Could Marcus Rashford end up staying at Man United?
With a move to Barcelona looking difficult and no other European giants showing any real interest, there is a strong chance Rashford may have to swallow his pride and stay put at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim has left the door open for Rashford to stay, but equally he has made it clear that his levels in training have been well below par. Even if Rashford does stay put, there is no guarantee he gets back into the squad.
Scholes suggested Rashford should be banished from the dressing room and that he has let his United teammates down by the way he has acted this month.

An exit in the next few days feels like the best outcome for all parties, but it’s proving difficult – certainly a lot more difficult than Rashford perhaps anticipated.
Rio Ferdinand believes Rashford will be embarrassed by Amorim’s latest comments and his current situation at the club. It is turning into a very sour end for a beloved academy star.
