Manchester United’s fate might be turning a bit after consecutive wins across two competitions but there’s no turning in the offing for Marcus Rashford.
Ruben Amorim said his most brutal comment yet on Rashford after the win against Fulham, hardly the sort of stuff to say when the door is open for a return.
With the transfer window inching towards closure, United face the prospect of an uncomfortable reunion between the Man Utd manager and Marcus Rashford, or paying someone £325k/week to stay away.
Neither is very logical but that went out of the window the moment he got that contract. Now, Paul Scholes has suggested that Ruben Amorim should go scorched earth on him.

Scholes has never been one to pull his punches when it comes to Man Utd, having come up under a disciplinarian like Sir Alex Ferguson.
Still, he has always held a soft spot for academy graduates, being one himself. However, that seems to have gone out of the window with Rashford’s actions.
Speaking on The Overlap, Scholes suggested that Rashford is letting his teammates down which is a big no-no, and there should be only one punishment for it.
He said: “Marcus has let a lot of people down with his attitude. Young players look up to Rashford. He’s clearly not training properly, living his life properly.
“He’s [letting his teammates down]. The fact he’s letting his teammates down, he should be banished from the dressing room.
“If he’s in and around that, young people seeing him as an example, the sooner he’s gone the better.”

While Scholes’ comments are completely understandable from where he’s coming from, Amorim needs to balance a lot of things before taking a decision like that.
Firstly, there’s no concrete interest in the player and with the transfer window ticking, he can’t afford to completely weaken the club’s stance if they take Rashford to the market.
In Garnacho, he’s given Rashford an example to learn from and make his way back and that’s the door he has always tried to keep open.
Recently, he has moved to a shock therapy of sorts for the player as the window is closing, publicly questioning him but if he does what Scholes is suggesting, there really is no way back.
That might be the case anyway, but Amorim has to strike a tricky balance to look out for the club’s wider interests.
