Manchester United want to sign a striker in 2025 with several options being rumoured already.

The struggles of Rasmus Hojlund are among the biggest concerns within Old Trafford.

After failing to score against Ipswich Town, it is now 17 games without a goal for the 22-year-old, with Manchester United having more goals through own goals than strikers since the turn of the year.

Things have gotten so bad, Ruben Amorim has turned to giving Chido Obi a chance. However, it is clear that United must make an addition to the department this summer.

The need for a striker could even see United sign two forwards this summer, with Viktor Gyokeres emerging as one of the top options given his suitability to Amorim’s system.

Victor Osimhen is another top option for United but doesn’t fit in with Ineos’ recruitment policy.

Manchester United reservations over Victor Osimhen

Over the past few seasons, United have signed strikers who have potential, but by no means have either Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee shown themselves as ready to lead the line.

Due to this, a superstar number nine such as Osimhen would be the preference of many fans this summer. But now, journalist Christopher Michel has claimed that Osimhen is not currently a priority.

It is then added that signing Osimhen is “exactly the kind of transfer the club normally no longer wants to make”, with it being an expensive and a big salary deal, with the Nigerian expected to cost £58m.

Osimhen may not completely fit into the way Ineos want to do business, but his price tag, goal record and qualities make it a tempting move to make for United.

This season Osimhen has already scored 20 goals which could have a transformational impact on United’s attack.

Ineos must remember that Manchester United are not Brighton

The policy of signing youngsters by Ineos is exciting however in a position which already has a handful of young options, signing a player like Osimhen would be smart.

It is important that Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell remember that United are not a club such as Brighton, who can sign only youngsters, as the pressure will weigh heavy on them.

Raphael Varane highlighted the need for stars at United, arguing this would take the burden off youngsters which would give them a better platform to perform.

United must be looking for the perfect combination of young and players in their prime to build a winning combination.

Having Osimhen ahead of Chido Obi would be perfect and give the 17-year-old someone to learn from – which he doesn’t have right now.
