Manchester United travel to Bournemouth looking to avenge their 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford.

While Ruben Amorim has been flawless in Europe since joining as head coach, Manchester United have struggled in the Premier League.

After losing 1-0 to Wolves at Old Trafford last weekend, next up for the Red Devils is a trip to face Bournemouth.

In the reverse fixture, Bournemouth embarrassed United 3-0 in perhaps Ruben Amorim’s worst result so far as head coach.

After the full-time whistle, Amorim sent a message to the United fanbase and it is a good time to revisit it this weekend.

Ruben Amorim’s four-word message to Man United fans

Last time against the Cherries, Amorim was badly let down by United players who missed several clear-cut chances and made inexcusable mistakes in defence.

United completely outperformed Bournemouth in terms of expected goals (xG) and chances created, but it was the home side who ended up losing 3-0.

Amorim comforted the United fanbase with a strong four-word message after the result – “Nothing bad lasts forever“.

“We just need to work on the way we play, that’s all. Focus on the job in the moment, not what you feel in the stadium. Just focus on the job you have to do when the ball is in one place, is in another place,” Amorim continued.

Since then, there have been signs of progress and United’s incredible 5-4 win over Lyon showed a club wholly behind its manager and squad.

Ruben Amorim must show progress at Man United

Amorim has stubbornly stuck to his task at United, refusing to budge his tactics or style of play even when things have gone wrong.

He was hired to change the club’s culture and style of play and he is doing just that. His honesty in press conferences has been admired by the United fanbase, who have rallied behind him this season despite the poor results.

Ultimately, there is huge pressure on Amorim to win the Europa League as the only way of salvaging what has otherwise been a terrible campaign.

United are only playing for pride in the Premier League, hence why Amorim is taking a risk on academy players in domestic matches.

That will continue to be the case when United face Bournemouth, and fans will be expecting the performance levels to continue to rise.

Next season is when Amorim will be truly judged. For now, he is laying the foundations for what will hopefully be a successful team.
