Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo is proving a big hit at Manchester United early on into his career.
Bryan Mbeumo has enjoyed a great start at Manchester United and is quickly becoming a fan favourite.
United paid £65 million to Brentford to sign Mbeumo, a fee that looked relatively sensible compared to some of the prices paid for less productive players by other Premier League clubs.
Mbeumo was one of the Premier League’s best players in 2024/25, and he has brought the same form to Old Trafford.

No distractions, Mbeumo is just a serious footballer
In the nicest possible way, Bryan Mbeumo is a boringly brilliant footballer. He is no frills, he is direct, and you won’t catch him complaining on social media if he does not get selected.
Mbeumo is an antidote to the likes of Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho, who both believed their own hype, and lost their way.
Already at Manchester United, Mbeumo is letting his football do the talking, where he is playing a leading role in turning the club’s form around.
Mbeumo started all 38 games for Brentford last season, and he has now started all nine for Manchester United. His consistent availability is a valuable trait, one that new signings have not always arrived with in recent seasons.
He’s embracing the big stage at Old Trafford
Bryan Mbeumo turned down multiple clubs to push for a move to Manchester United, and he is thriving at the Theatre of Dreams.
As a player who owned a United shirt with Ronaldo on the back as a kid, Mbeumo is fulfilling a lifelong dream at the club, and he is performing like he cares.
And while some players have floundered under the pressure at Old Trafford, Mbeumo is embracing it.
Speaking after scoring two goals against Brighton, Mbeumo said: “Honestly, it’s so good,” he said. “The atmosphere is crazy here. The fans are unbelievable. It is always good to score but especially here.
“With the goals, even when we have the ball, when we win a tackle. When we win a throw-in, win a foul. Everything is great here and I wish we could play every game here.”
Mbeumo has the kind of enthusiasm and joy that some players who played for the club lost quickly, or never had.
Mbeumo has no fear, he’s been consistently productive
Bryan Mbeumo is Manchester United’s most productive player in 2025/26 so far, with five goals and one assist.
While Manchester United are on a high right now with three consecutive wins, there have been a few rocky moments in Mbeumo’s opening weeks at the club too.
One came in a nervous home victory over Burnley, with the club entering a fourth game in all competitions searching for a first win. Mbeumo chose the perfect moment to step up and score his first Premier League goal for the club, at Old Trafford too.
The one unhappy moment for Mbeumo came in the Carabao Cup against Grimsby when he missed a penalty in the shootout. This came after he had netted his first United goal during the 90 minutes.
The humiliating defeat would have broken some players or set them back. Mbeumo rebounded by scoring against Burnley days later in a win.

He’s helping to set a path forward, and erase past mistakes
Manchester United’s signings have infamously been inconsistent in the post Sir Alex Ferguson era, but Ineos are getting their act together.
Mbeumo is one of four signings along with Benjamin Sesko, Senne Lammens and Matheus Cunha, who all look to be hits.
The Mbeumo move was a data driven signing, with analytics playing a key part in United’s strategy to sign one of the Premier League’s most productive players, who was on the rise.
Figures via Sofascore show how Mbeumo is attempting 2.6 shots per game and making 2.2 key passes per game. Both of these numbers are likely to improve.
So often through the years, United have signed players at the wrong time, too late or too early in their careers.
Young players like Rasmus Hojlund or Antony have been too raw to succeed at United, while the likes of Casemiro and Raphael Varane were signed when they were on the downward curve of their careers.
Mbeumo’s move is more comparable to a player United missed out on who joined Liverpool in 2015, Sadio Mane, who was proven in the Premier League and ready for the next step.
Along with Matheus Cunha, Mbeumo has helped to raise the floor at Manchester United, coming into a challenging situation and delivering right away. Young unproven players would lack the mental strength to be able to deal with the pressure.
Their early performances provide signals to Ineos that this strategy needs to be repeated. Sir Alex Ferguson thrived on it, with the likes of Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole joining from Premier League rivals, and delivering success.

Mbeumo is forging a superb link-up with Amad
Most of Bryan Mbeumo’s play is coming down the right side of the pitch, and here he is developing an impressive link-up with Amad. The pair combined to set up a goal at Anfield earlier this month.
Amad’s move to right wing-back has helped to accommodate a regular starting spot for Mbeumo, and together they are a very dangerous and relentless partnership.
Ruben Amorim spoke after United’s win over Brighton, commenting: “He’s a working machine. He’s so good in transitions. He’s improving when we are organising the final third.
“The connection with Amad, it’s really hard to beat these two guys because they change position, they are really fast, they are good in one against one.”
Mbeumo is also developing a connection with Bruno Fernandes too, running onto his dummy to score the fourth goal against Brighton in the win.
