Manchester United have reached an agreement with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo.

After weeks of negotiations, Manchester United and Brentford have struck a deal for Bryan Mbeumo, finally agreeing on the price. It will cost £65 million plus £6 million in add-ons.

David Ornstein reports: “Manchester United reach agreement with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo. Deal between clubs struck at £65m guaranteed + up to £6m add-ons. 4 instalments. 26yo forward only wanted #MUFC & move from #BrentfordFC now being finalised”

Manchester United submitted a third bid for Mbeumo on July 17, which was reported to be £70 million in total. The final agreed price is £71 million, including add-ons.

Weeks of Mbeumo negotiations

A breakthrough to sign Bryan Mbeumo is long overdue. The transfer saga dragged on for weeks, following United’s initial approach for the player on June 2.

United fans were left frustrated at the fact the drawn out saga appears to have resulted in the club caving to Brentford’s demands.

Mbeumo will become United’s most expensive signing under Ineos, with his £65 million initial fee becoming the club’s sixth most expensive of all time.

The move follows United striking a deal to sign Matheus Cunha at the start of June.

Mbeumo had made it clear throughout that he only wanted to sign for Manchester United, snubbing interest from Newcastle.

Having wanted to secure the deal before July, United adjusted the urgency to want to seal the deal before the club’s pre-season tour, with the squad flying out to the US early next week.
