Bryan Mbeumo looks primed to be Manchester United’s second signing of the summer transfer window.

The deal has shot to prominence out of nowhere in the past week.

Despite once looking like a tough ask with Champions League-qualified teams in the mix, Manchester United have been chosen as the only option by Bryan Mbeumo.

Mbeumo has snubbed Newcastle, along with Arsenal and Tottenham, to join United, where he envisions himself being a big part in restoring greatness to Old Trafford.

Talks are progressing quickly, with United expected to submit a second bid worth £60m plus, which is almost certain to be enough to get things over the line.

Now, Mbeumo’s ties to United have been revealed.

Bryan Mbeumo had Cristiano Ronaldo on his first football kit

There is no denying that Mbeumo is one of the Premier League’s very best footballers, boasting incredible goals and assists records.

In fact, due to how impressive he has become in scoring and assisting, Jamie Carragher has said Mbeumo is a Mohamed Salah regen.

Last month, Mbeumo appeared on the Pro Direct YouTube channel to answer quickfire questions, which revealed some interesting insight into the player. One question saw the interviewer as who the first player he had on the back of a shirt was, with Cristiano Ronaldo mentioned.

“I think it was Ronaldo, the seven Ronaldo”, Mbeumo admitted regarding the United legend.

Mbeumo would have been eight or nine when Ronaldo was tearing up the Premier League for United, before heading to Real Madrid where he did the same.

What next for the number seven shirt at Manchester United?

Manchester United’s number seven shirt is arguably the most famous shirt in the entire game, with some of the best ever wearing it over the years.

Cristiano Ronaldo is one, while Eric Cantona, David Beckham and George Best are others to wear the famous number.

However, of late it has turned into more of a curse than a blessing, with every player barring Edinson Cavani turning into a nightmare upon being handed the shirt.

Currently, Mason Mount has the number, although has not done it justice at all which makes it a tough call over what to do with the Englishman.

United are unlikely to strip him this summer, but there is a feeling this will be his final chance to get things right before the number is handed to someone more deserving next summer.

Could that end up being Mbeumo? We will have to see.
