Five biggest Man Utd winners and two losers from international break

Over the past week, Ruben Amorim will have been keeping an eye on the international action with several Manchester United players involved.

Despite the ongoing problems at Manchester United, the international break still saw plenty of players contracted to the club called up by their national teams.

From talented wonderkids to established stars, there has been plenty to dissect over the break as United had over a dozen first-team players on international duty.

But who were the biggest winners and losers from the break from a United point of view?

Winners

There were a handful of big winners for United during this international break.

Enzo Kana-Biyik: Often forgotten, the Frenchman signed for United in the summer for free and headed straight out on loan to Lausanne in Switzerland.

It has been a slow start at the Ineos-owned club, but for France U19, Kana-Biyik scored a hat-trick in a 5-3 win.

Finding his scoring boots just in time to kick-start his campaign for Lausanne and show why United signed him.

Patrick Dorgu: It has been a pretty disappointing start to the season for Dorgu, with his attacking output leaving many fans frustrated.

However, over the break, Dorgu scored his first international goal for Denmark, looking like a different player to the one we see for United.

Hopefully, this is a confidence booster for the youngster, and he can find the form that won him plaudits during pre-season.

Gabriele Biancheri: This month, Biancheri has been with the U21 Wales team, and while their 2027 European Championship qualifying got off to a disastrous start, it got significantly better.

Biancheri scored his first goal for Wales U21, latching onto a loose Austria pass back before rounding the goalkeeper to put his team 1-0 up, which led to a 2-0 win.

After the game, Biancheri is being tipped for a senior Wales call-up.

Amad: The Ivory Coast secured a return to the World Cup this month, after a 12-year absence, and in doing so, Amad proved absolutely vital.

Amad scored and assisted for the Ivory Coast during a 3-0 triumph over Kenya, which secured their qualification ahead of potentially retaining the AFCON in January.

This outing has established Amad as the main man for his country, and 2026 could be a big year for him.

Diego Leon: The final winner is Leon, as he was called up to Paraguay’s first team for the inaugural time.

Not only was this an excellent experience, but Leon also made his senior Paraguay debut.

This should help him at United.

Losers

After the winners, there were also losers.

Matheus Cunha: While not an appalling break for Cunha, he didn’t have the impact he would have wanted.

Despite an assist for Cunha against South Korea, his attacking rivals all scored and looked ahead of the United forward currently.

Cunha will be desperate to earn a starting role for Brazil in the World Cup, but he needs to do better than this if he is to earn it.

Benjamin Sesko: Playing for a poor Slovenia side, Sesko is not exactly expected to score hatfuls every game, but it still sees him as a loser from this break.

Sesko is on his longest international goal drought, with his team creating very little for him. This prompted the Slovenian press to say Sesko looked lonely and this is a problem for him internationally that won’t be solved easily.

Hopefully, it won’t have killed the momentum he built at United.
