Bryan Mbeumo sent a statement of intent that Manchester United’s rivals have overlooked after the former Brentford star’s arrival at Old Trafford this summer.
Manchester United confirmed the signing of Bryan Mbeumo on Monday after a rollercoaster saga with Brentford during the summer transfer window since June.
Mbeumo committed to a five-year deal with United and the 25-year-old winger became the third signing to walk through the doors at Old Trafford this summer.
The French-born attacker had been linked with Tottenham in recent weeks and a potential reunion with former Brentford manager Thomas Frank at Spurs.
However, Mbeumo’s position was to sign for United and the former Bees ace was acquired by the Red Devils after Brentford accepted a third bid for the player.
The Red Devils agreed to pay an initial fee of £65m for the Cameroon international, with United’s deal with Brentford for Mbeumo including £6m in further add-ons.

Bryan Mbeumo didn’t even think twice about what he made of Man Utd players and Ruben Amorim amid his ‘mentality’ remarks
Manchester United confirmed Bryan Mbeumo’s shirt number and the Cameroon winger is now expected to link up with his new teammates for pre-season.
Ruben Amorim and his United players will be heading to the United States this week for their next three matches of the Red Devils’ summer pre-season tour.
Mbeumo is set to be named in the travelling squad to the States and United fans could soon have their first look at him in action in a Red Devils shirt this summer.
The former Troyes player has not been afraid to show how much of a mentality monster he is and Mbeumo proved as much with his first comments at United.
Mbeumo talked about his desire to “reach another level” under United manager Ruben Amorim, who is leading his first pre-season at the Red Devils since his arrival.
However, the former Bees star took it one step further by suggesting, without any hesitation, that he will now be sharing the pitch with “world-class players” at United.
“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday,” Mbeumo told Manchester United’s official website.
“I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.”
Why Bryan Mbeumo’s ‘world-class players’ comment is so important about the Ruben Amorim era at Man Utd
United finished at an all-time low in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era after the Red Devils suffered their worst finish in the table since the Premier League’s inception in 1992.
The Red Devils limped to a 15th-place standing under Ruben Amorim last season after the 40-year-old coach replaced Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout.
Amorim faces no easy task at Old Trafford ahead of the 2025-26 Premier League season and the former Sporting head coach is trying to roll out his long-term vision.
The United manager’s ambitions start with dismantling the Red Devils’ first-team squad and rebuilding the side in line with his philosophy and playing style.
It is still early doors in the ‘Amorim era’ at Old Trafford, but the arrivals of Mbeumo from Brentford, Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno are all welcoming signs.
Mbeumo’s comments about seeing “world-class players” as his United teammates show a shift in culture and mentality at Old Trafford that has not been seen for a long time.
