Manchester United have completed the signing of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo after weeks of speculation.
Ruben Amorim’s focus in this transfer window has been on adding more goals to his Manchester United squad.
Matheus Cunha joined United from Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in the window, but progress on further additions has been slow.
Reports early in June highlighted that Bryan Mbeumo wanted to join United from Brentford.
Weeks have passed without an agreement, but United have finally confirmed Mbeumo’s arrival.
Cunha and Mbeumo racked up 35 goals and 13 assists combined in the Premier League last season and will hopefully bring that attacking quality to Old Trafford.
United In Focus writer verdict on Bryan Mbeumo transfer
Dan Coombs: The delay in negotiating for Bryan Mbeumo has been farcical, for very little gain. Now that slight moan is out of the way, this is pretty much the perfect deal.
Mbeumo adds proven Premier League experience, goal threat, and versatility. His best is yet to come, and United are buying at the right time.
I liken this to Liverpool’s deal for Sadio Mane way back in 2015, where United missed out. Together with Cunha, this is fantastic business.
Jonny Maze: If you’d asked me a month ago, I’d have been ecstatic over the signing of Mbeumo. The constant links and slow progress have undeniably killed some of the excitement; however, now it is happening, I cannot help but be delighted.
He’s one of the Premier League’s very best and adds so much to the attack when compared with other options the club has.
Hopefully, we get to see him in action in the coming weeks, and he fits instantly into the system; onto the next.
Olly Dawes: It’s taken a while, but United finally have Mbeumo on board and another attacking boost for Ruben Amorim in the process.
Recruiting Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha evokes memories of Sir Alex Ferguson raiding the Premier League’s ‘best of the rest’ for some superb signings, and we can only hope that Mbeumo and Cunha follow suit.
Mbeumo’s proven Premier League record, alongside his versatility to play in a number of attacking roles, make him an ideal addition.
Mbeumo signing in time for the pre-season tour of the United States is another boost, and we hope to see him make an instant impact for United.
Sean Fisher: Despite the staggering amount of time Ineos have taken on this deal, Bryan Mbeumo is a fantastic signing for Manchester United.
Ruben Amorim needed more firepower in his squad, and Mbeumo arrives as a Premier League-proven star who could easily add 15-20 goals next season.
Hopefully, the frustration around Mbeumo’s transfer saga will be quickly forgotten once he starts putting the ball in the back of the net.
Vatsal Gupta: Bryan Mbeumo keeps the philosophy alive that started with Matheus Cunha.
With his signing, Man Utd have added 35 Premier League goals to the team now (15 for Cunha, 20 for Mbeumo).
Even if he doesn’t match those numbers at Old Trafford, he’ll provide proven quality in as many as three positions.
In a market where the likes of Anthony Elanga and Noni Madueke have cost in excess of £50m, Mbeumo is a great deal, regardless of the time it took.
His peak years will be at Old Trafford, and that’s a salivating scenario for Man Utd fans.
