Alongside Rashford and Mount, Thomas Tuchel could revitalise Manchester United ace for England

Thomas Tuchel is now the manager of England – despite all the recent links to Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag remains as the manager of Manchester United, and now his main competitor is out of the running.

Tuchel taking the England job definitely relieves pressure on Ten Hag, with managerial candidates for United to replace the Dutchman dwindling down.

Some Manchester United players will still get to work with the German. Rashford should work well with Tuchel, and he will surely harness the talents of Kobbie Mainoo. Even Mason Mount could gel alongside Tuchel again.

Whilst these two will receive optimum care, it’s also a shot for another Manchester United, and England veteran, to cement his place in the starting XI once more.

Harry Maguire will love Thomas Tuchel for England

A long-standing member of the England squad, Harry Maguire has become a bit of a staple at St George’s Park.

That being said, it hasn’t been as easy in recent times for Maguire to cement his starting slot. With the likes of John Stones, Marc Guehi, Joe Gomez, Jarrad Branthwaite and more all fighting for places in the backline.

Tuchel will probably look most likely to play 4-2-3-1 at the helm of the Three Lions – so it’s going to be slim pickings for a place in the starting XI.

Or, he may revert to a three-back he played during his time at Chelsea. However, with the sheer amount of attacking talent England possesses – he’ll likely replicate his Bayern setup.

Either way, the German loves to play a possessional style of buildup, going back to front on most occasions – which is why Maguire could thrive once again in a white shirt.

The 31-year-old not only fits a Tuchel-esque defender to a tee – but his wealth of experience is also vital in a side of young, blossoming stars. If he can regain fitness, we imagine Maguire will be used heavily by England’s new gaffer.

Tuchel wanted Maguire at Chelsea

According to The Mirror, Tuchel wanted Maguire at Chelsea during the 2022/23 season, but a move never materialised.

The former Manchester United captain is also a fan of Tuchel’s work, speaking with United’s club website during the same season and praising the in-form Chelsea with the German at the helm.

“Obviously, Chelsea’s going to be a tough game but we went there last year and won and we’ll be looking to do that again,” Maguire said in an exclusive club interview.

“They’re keeping their position very nicely and build up really well and [are] not conceding many goals, so it’s a good start [for them]. We’re hoping to spoil that.”

Now the pair can finally work together – which could be a great match for both parties.
