Manchester United haven’t officially announced a new signing this summer, but Ineos have completed a deal already for Cristian Orozco.
The Colombian 17-year-old midfielder is set to join Manchester United in July, following his 18th birthday.
United agreed a deal for Cristian Orozco almost a year ago, and now has come the time for him to begin his career in England.
Orozco is expected in Manchester in the coming days to complete his medical and the transfer.
He arrives as a huge talent, but little is known about his style outside of Colombia. So, having spoken to some experts and watched some of his games, here is what to expect.

What kind of player is Cristian Orozco
Expectations on Orozco shouldn’t be high, like with any teenage arrival from abroad, he will take some time to settle in and come good.
But when he does, United might have signed a gem.
Orozco is a midfielder, primarily fitting into the rough bracket of being a number six in the defensive midfield department.
Despite his age, Orozco is a physical, hard-working, and disciplined midfielder who has real maturity.
The captain for Colombia at youth level, Orozco was impressive in the U17 World Cup in November 2025, dominating games from the deep-lying midfield role.
He is a good passer, although he tends to keep it simple, rarely misplacing the ball, progressing play to his more creative teammates on either wing or through the middle in a Sergio Busquets-like manner.
Orozco has been likened to Moises Caicedo, and while this is a lazy comparison, it does track in that the pair share similarities, even if not being identical players.
Since then, Orozco has taken his game to professional football for Fortaleza with mixed success.
The wonderkid hasn’t played a lot, but in his limited chances, he has shown enough to prove his quality is ready for a new challenge.
Intelligent, physical, technically good and mature, he has everything to be a top number six, now we wait to see if he can string it all together.

Where Orozco will fit in immediately for Manchester United
Orozco turns 18 on the 13th of July 2026, and therefore, there is a strong chance he enters pre-season with United at some stage before the game against Wrexham.
Carrick might want to get a look at Orozco this summer, which could see him share a similar first summer to Diego Leon.
But the reports in Colombia suggest he will instead be with the U21s this summer on tour in Germany.
Building relationships with his teammates and maybe even some involvement on the tour with the first-team if deemed ready.
It is important that he is put into the U21 set-up to allow him to get to grips with English football and, equally as importantly, life across the world from where he is from.
United won’t want to pressure Orozco, but if he is able to hit the ground running, don’t be shocked to see some early involvement.
