Ineos are set to continue on a quest to sign ‘the next Mbappe’ in 2026, with a deal already lined up for a player considered the new Moises Caicedo.
While there are plenty of criticisms we could aim at Ineos, since the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s footballing department at Manchester United, youth recruitment has been a big positive.
United have brought in a spine for the next decade in the form of Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven, Sekou Kone, and Chido Obi; however, the work is not yet completed.
Low-risk, high-reward signings will either be excellent financial decisions for United or end up in the first team long-term, making it a win-win situation.
Now, after United signed Diego Leon in the summer 2025 transfer window, the next young talent is already lined up in the form of Cristian Orozco.

Manchester United ‘very happy’ with Cristian Orozco signing
The South American market is one that, historically, United has not made the most of, often passing up the chance to sign talented young players from the continent.
United rejected the chance to sign Moises Caicedo prior to his Brighton move; however, Ineos have changed this and are willing to make the high ceiling signings.
So following in the footsteps of Leon, United have agreed a deal to sign Orozco in July 2026 once he turns 18. The transfer will see Orozco cost United £750k, which could turn out to be an absolute bargain.
Speaking after giving his ‘here we go’ for the transfer on Wednesday night, Fabrizio Romano revealed some extra details on the deal, including what United thinks of Orozco.
“Save the name. Cristian Orozco is coming from Fortaleza. A Colombian defensive midfielder with intensity and a player with big potential.
“Manchester United are convinced that they have found a gem with this player, then it will be about potential, training, and working hard. United are very happy.
“He is ready to arrive and become a United player. Manchester United believes it was a very good opportunity.”
In addition, United won the race to sign Orozco ahead of a handful of other clubs.
“Some French and German clubs were also interested, but when Manchester United entered the scene, he wanted to go to United and fulfill his dream.”
Cristian Orozco has all the raw qualities to be a top-class midfielder in the Premier League
Those who have watched Orozco consistently speak very highly of him, and clearly, United agrees. Christopher Vivell is firmly behind the signing, putting his experience of signing talented youngsters to good use.
Orozco has been praised for his fierce ability on the pitch, which helps him stand out as a defensive midfielder.
United supporters have compared Orozco to Moises Caicedo as the pair share some traits that should lend themselves well to the Colombian’s chances of shining in the Premier League.
United fans will likely catch a first glimpse of Orozco during the 2026 pre-season tour.
