Eagle-eyed Manchester United fans caught one spine-tingling moment involving Casemiro and Ruben Amorim during the Europa League semi-final clash against Athletic Club on Thursday evening.

Casemiro has turned around his dwindling form at Old Trafford in the current campaign and the Manchester United player has impressed under Ruben Amorim.

The 33-year-old former Real Madrid star struggled at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign under Erik ten Hag before the ex-United manager was sacked in 2024.

Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout and the 40-year-old former Sporting CP boss has been able to tap into Casemiro’s true potential at United.

Casemiro has been a key United first-team player for Amorim and the Red Devils midfielder has put in strong performances in the Europa League this season.

The Brazil international is under contract with United until 2026 and he had been previously linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

However, Casemiro proved his importance to United on Thursday evening after the former Los Blancos ace produced a stunning performance against Athletic Club.

United knocked Athletic Club out of the Europa League semi-finals and Amorim’s side are now within touching distance of major silverware in their 2024-25 season.

What Man Utd fans spotted from Casemiro and Ruben Amorim on the Old Trafford touchline in the Europa League tie vs Athletic Club

Athletic Club went 1-0 up against United in the first half of the second-leg Europa League semi-final tie before Ruben Amorim’s men rallied back in the second half.

Mason Mount came off the bench for United and the former Chelsea ace cancelled out Mikel Jauregizar’s first-half opener for Athletic Club with the equaliser.

Casemiro then added his name to the scoresheet in the 79th minute before Rasmus Hojlund scored United’s third in the 85th minute at Old Trafford on Thursday.

Mason Mount ensured United’s 4-1 thumping of the La Liga outfit after the 26-year-old ex-England international completed his brace in injury time with a superb effort.

Casemiro started the second-leg encounter in the heart of midfield alongside Manuel Ugarte and the former Real Madrid midfielder put in another steady performance.

The Brazil and United star was hooked off two minutes after he put the Red Devils 2-1 up on the night, with Amorim bringing Kobbie Mainoo on in his place.

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, loved every moment of a wholesome exchange between Casemiro and Amorim on the touchline.

Casemiro was spotted slapping Amorim’s hand before the five-time Champions League winner picked up the former Sporting CP manager with a massive bear hug.

Ruben Amorim speaks out on Man Utd star Casemiro after the Europa League semi-final win vs Athletic Club

Speaking after the United match at Old Trafford, Amorim spoke about what he saw from the midfield pivot between Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte against Athletic Club.

“They changed the game and that is credit to the players,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“We needed a little bit more energy and we had to keep the ball. When you play with Manu [Ugarte] and Casemiro, we lose in some areas in the way we push forward the team.

“Bruno Fernandes is a really good player to drive the ball but also to start the play with long passes and that can help us.

“Amad [Diallo] is to change the game because I felt Garna [Alejandro Garnacho] was tired, it was my fault as he did a really good job versus Brentford, it is hard to think about everything in these kind of games. My thinking is to always help the team to win.”

Premier League sides United and Tottenham will now meet in the 2025 Europa League final on 21st May at Athletic Club’s San Mames Stadium in Bilbao.
