Benjamin Sesko will have an interesting choice of squad numbers if he signs for Manchester United this summer.
Ineos are pushing ahead with their plans to sign a striker and Benjamin Sesko is Manchester United’s priority ahead of other targets such as Ollie Watkins.
Led by Head of Recruitment and former Red Bull chief Christopher Vivell, United have held talks with Sesko over a potential move to Old Trafford.
United have been scouring the market for a new striker all summer and have landed on Benjamin Sesko as the ideal No.9 for Ruben Amorim, but whether he actually wears the traditional number nine is yet to be seen…

Benjamin Sesko’s squad number options at Man United
There have already been several squad number changes at United this summer, including Matheus Cunha taking the No.10 from Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot changing to No.2.
At RB Leipzig, Sesko wears the No.30 and has done throughout his entire time at RB Salzburg and Leipzig.
However, new United signing Diego Leon was recently given the No.30 following the completion of his move, meaning Sesko’s favourite squad number is currently occupied.
The No.9 is currently taken by Rasmus Hojlund, but there have been whispers of the Danish striker potentially being involved in a potential swap deal for Sesko. If that was the case, then Sesko would be expected to inherit the traditional striker number.
If Hojlund stays put at United, though, the second option is for Sesko to take the No.21 – the number he wore growing up while on loan at FC Liefering.
Antony currently wears the No.21, but he is expected to leave this summer. Al Nassr have bid for Antony, and United will hope that a sale is completed sooner rather than later.
Finally, if Sesko wanted a lower number, then he could take the No.14 shirt previously worn by Christian Eriksen.
The No.14 was previously worn by Jesse Lingard, Javier Hernandez and Alan Smith to name a few.
Interestingly, it is also the number chosen by Viktor Gyokeres at Arsenal, who will presumably line up against United in the opening fixture of the 2025/26 season. Sesko could line up opposite the Swede wearing the same number.
Every shirt number worn by Benjamin Sesko in his career
As previously mentioned, Sesko has worn the No.30 for the majority of his career, including all three seasons with RB Leipzig.
He wore the No.21 on loan at FC Liefering, and the only other club number he has owned is the No.29 while playing for Salzburg’s U19s.
However, Sesko’s squad number history on the international stage is entirely different.
Sesko, who ranks fourth in Slovenia’s all-time scoring list, currently wears the No.11 for his nation. He has been Slovenia’s No.11 for the past five years.

Unfortunately for Sesko, that number is currently taken at United by Joshua Zirkzee, who claimed it following his £36m move last summer.
Before wearing the No.11 for Slovenia, Sesko wore the No.25 back in the 2020/21 season during his international breakthrough. Again, that number is currently worn by Manuel Ugarte at Old Trafford.
