Just when it looked like things couldn’t get much worse than Manchester United in 14th place in the Premier League table, they have.
The results were not good, but at least there was hope that a turnaround was possible as things were in the club’s hands since there weren’t many injuries.
So much for that hope.
During an international break where Diogo Dalot got a rare rest, and many from the Man Utd squad weren’t even called up, the club has somehow managed to come off worse for it.
Kobbie Mainoo is the latest injury blow to the team after he was set to be out for a few weeks and recent reports indicate he’ll miss seven games.

Kobbie Mainoo’s seven-game absence
Man United’s midfield depth is set for a big test as after spending nearly £150 million on new players, they are left with their midfield pairing from the first season.
Christian Eriksen and Casemiro will have to run it back, at least for the next week or so until Manuel Ugarte’s injury extent is cleared up.
It has now been reported by The Times that Mainoo’s injury will see him miss the next seven games, including the one against Brentford for which his absence is already confirmed.
Effectively, that means that he won’t be a part of any game played before the next international break which begins after their game vs Leicester on November 10.
Below are the seven games he’s set to miss:

The absence comes at the worst possible time as not only is Ten Hag under pressure, but the run of fixtures, at least until the Chelsea game, is tricky.
Man Utd planning for Mainoo absence
With games coming thick and fast, asking Casemiro and Eriksen to play every single one of those seven games would be asking for another injury to happen.
Things will become much clearer once it’s revealed how Ugarte’s fitness status is but even beyond him, things will need a shake-up.
Three midfielders can’t function for a seven-game span, especially in Ten Hag’s system which asks so much of his midfielders.
Some call-ups from the youth setup should be on the horizon. Dan Gore has made a remarkable recovery from injury to star for the U21s and he might feel his breakthrough has been a whole season coming.
Toby Collyer will definitely have to see some minutes now even though he hasn’t set the world alight in his limited appearances so far.
Ultimately, Mainoo provides something to this side that no other midfielder in the ranks can replicate so United will be worse off without him.
It adds another challenge to Ten Hag’s list of obstacles as he seeks to save his job.
