After Manchester United’s attacking struggles continued on Friday night, Saturday saw Antony shine.
Ruben Amorim watched his Manchester United side struggle once again in an attacking sense against Leicester City.
It took a 93rd-minute Harry Maguire goal to see United past the relegation-bound Foxes, with this a damning view into the struggles that the Red Devils have faced going forward.

But one player who is not struggling lately is a United loanee, Antony, who many had completely written off during his disastrous two years at Old Trafford.
After impressing during his debut last weekend, Antony has once again caught the eye this week for Betis.

Antony is thriving after Manchester United exit
Antony was the man of the match in his debut last weekend. When he lined out for Real Betis, Antony’s performance was labelled as electric.
Now, Antony has scored his first goal for Betis on Saturday in a 3-2 defeat against Celta Vigo.
Antony played 72 minutes for Betis and was among their best players again.
- 72 minutes
- 1 goal
- 22/29 passes
- 45 touches
- 4 passes into final third
- 1/1 accurate crosses
- 1 interception
- 4 defensive actions
- 5 recoveries
- 4/7 duels won
After this performance from Antony, the press in Spain reacted.
Spanish press full of praise for Antony
Antony has already expressed a willingness to join Betis permanently, which he could do this summer.
His chances of earning a move look solid if the reaction of Spanish media is anything to go by.
One outlet in Spain, El Desmarque, reacted to the Brazilian’s goal: “Antony’s incredible ankle twist: a great goal full of quality in Balaídos. Antony has fallen to his feet at Betis.”
Spanish outlet Cope also praised Antony for his goal: “Great goal from the Brazilian, who places the ball away from Guaita’s reach with a subtle touch, after a very good attack play by Betis.”
AS also lauded Antony’s finish: “Betis is excited and Antony responds: the gesture he makes with his ankle is very magical”.
El Desmarque also had a separate article in which they reviewed Antony’s performance: “His extraordinary ankle turn defines him as a soccer player and the enormous resources he has. He started with strength, although with the passing of the minutes, he lowered the piston and was less accurate with the ball.”
