Manchester United are about to start a new era under Ruben Amorim but his plans will not include the services of Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Ruben Amorim is now just a week away from truly beginning his Manchester United reign.
Amorim has been pictured inside Old Trafford as United finally present him as the new boss.
Amorim will take on Ipswich Town in his debut next week and United fans no doubt can’t wait for the international break to end.
A number of coaches have followed Amorim to United with Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido joining United.
Amorim has brought major changes to the United coaching ranks with the Dutch influence certainly disappearing.
Ruud van Nistelrooy stance on Manchester United exit
Rene Hake and Jelle ten Rouwelaar were both let go whilst Ruud van Nistelrooy’s return to United was cut short.
Van Nistelrooy took interim charge of United after Erik ten Hag’s sacking and avoided defeat in his four games in charge.
Amorim has decided to let Van Nistelrooy go though as he wants to progress without the former United striker.
Former Blackburn Rovers defender Andre Ooijer has now told The Mirror that he knows Van Nistelrooy really wanted to stay at United.
Ooijer not only played alongside Van Nistelrooy for the Netherlands but worked as his assistant at PSV Eindhoven.
Ooijer claims that Van Nistelrooy simply loves United so much that he snubbed chances to manage other clubs just to coach at Old Trafford.
The former centre back added that he thinks United fans may start calling for Van Nistelrooy’s return if new boss Amorim doesn’t start well.
“Ruud wanted to stay as assistant,” said Ooijer. “He would have said something if he wasn’t interested in working with Amorim. Ruud has had the chance to be manager or head coach at other clubs, but he deliberately did not take those jobs because he wanted to work at the club he loves most.
“Don’t forget Ruud did really well at United, a draw against Chelsea and victories in the other three matches. You could tell the fans liked him so much. You only had to watch how they reacted to him after his last match. He did so well under difficult circumstances. He has stayed unbeaten as a manager. If Amorim does not get the right results in the first few games, the crowd could start calling again for Ruud,” he added.
Van Nistelrooy has applied for English job
Van Nistelrooy may well fancy returning to United in some capacity down the line, whether that is as manager or as a coach again.
The reality is though that Van Nistelrooy is bound to get job offers from a number of clubs after leaving United.
TalkSPORT even report that Van Nistelrooy has applied for the vacant Coventry City job.
The Sky Blues recently sacked former United striker Mark Robins and are looking for a replacement.
Van Nistelrooy could be the man for the job with the Dutchman making his interest known.
Van Nistelrooy certainly isn’t waiting around and wants to get right back in the dugout – even if it means dropping into the Championship.
