Ruben Amorim has started making waves at Manchester United on his very first day as major staff overhaul announcement has dropped.
Man Utd have confirmed that Ruud van Nistelrooy will depart the club after taking charge for four games as interim manager.
Van Nistelrooy pleaded to Amorim to stay but the final decision has not gone in his favour, with Amorim bringing as many as five staff members of his own.
Amorim’s plans for Van Nistelrooy were hinted at recently and he has followed through on them. Carlos Fernandes, Ruben Amorim’s long-time assistant, set to join Old Trafford and the arrival of other coaching staff means the field will be trimmed further.
Van Nistelrooy is not the only one leaving as United announced the exit of three other coaching staff. Here’s every Man Utd coaching staff member who follows Van Nistelrooy and what they did at the club-

Rene Hake
The most obvious candidate to leave as soon as Amorim’s hiring was announced was Rene Hake and that has turned out to be true.
Hake is an unfortunate casualty of the change and he will be cursing his fate because of the circumstances he joined in and how his career was in the ascendancy.
He didn’t even have the club legend status to fall back on which made Van Nistelrooy’s future a question to begin with.
With Amorim bringing two assistants with him, there was never going to be any space for Hake’s tactical expertise who was a Ten Hag hire through and through.
He mainly worked on tactical patterns and took training hands-on, working on the pitch to drill patterns into the playing XI. Carlos Fernandes is taking Van Nistelrooy’s place, and Adelio Candido is expected to take Hake’s.
Jelle ten Rouwelaar
This move is expected and surprising at the same time if that makes sense at all. It’s expected because, like Hake, he was a part of the increasing Dutch contingent at Carrington who had a close bond with Ten Hag.
It’s surprising because Onana’s form shows goalkeeping coach Rouwelaar has genuinely had a positive impact on the situation between the sticks.
Onana leads the league in clean sheets and that’s not down to just the defensive system. He has consistently been one of United’s best performers this season and credit has to go to the new Rouwelaar for his work with him.
His place is expected to be filled by Jorge Vital, the 63-year-old goalkeeping coach who has been with Amorim at Sporting.
Pieter Morel
He is the least high-profile name among all the departures and that’s because his work is away from the training pitch.
Morel was the first-team video analyst at United and had been with Ten Hag since his days at Ajax. He joined United in the summer of 2023 after seven years at Ajax.
Amorim isn’t bringing any specialist video analyst with him so this move could just be to cut off any influence from the previous management team at the club.
In addition, the new manager is expected to bring Paulo Barreira who is an expert in physical conditioning and fitness, and Emanuel Ferro, whose role will be more hands-on in training.
So that’s the four departures United will see in the coming days, to be replaced by five of Amorim’s men as the last vestiges of Ten Hag’s influence at Old Trafford are eroded.
