Ruud van Nistelrooy on the verge of Premier League deal, he will face Ruben Amorim and Manchester United in 2025

Ruud van Nistelrooy left Manchester United earlier in November but is already on the verge of making a Premier League return.

It’s all change in the Manchester United dugout.

United sacked Erik ten Hag in October and quickly moved to appoint Ruben Amorim as his successor.

Amorim was officially appointed as United boss on November 1 but didn’t arrive until the international break.

Amorim has already overseen major changes to the United coaching staff with a handful of Sporting coaches arriving with him.

Rene Hake and Ruud van Nistelrooy were among the coaches to leave, but the latter won’t be out of the game for long.

Ruud van Nistelrooy set for Premier League job

Van Nistelrooy served as United’s interim boss following Ten Hag’s departure, winning three and drawing one of his four games.

The Dutchman was let go when Amorim arrived with Van Nistelrooy saying an emotional goodbye to United.

Out of work for just a couple of weeks, Van Nistelrooy is now on the verge of a return to the Premier League.

The Telegraph report that Van Nistelrooy is on the verge of being appointed as the new Leicester City manager.

It’s stated that Van Nistelrooy has held ‘extensive talks’ with the Foxes and is set to be confirmed as Steve Cooper’s successor.

Van Nistelrooy may even be appointed in time to take charge against Brentford this weekend.

Reports earlier this week suggested that Leicester were waiting on Van Nistelrooy’s answer about the job.

Van Nistelrooy now appears to have accepted the position and will head to the King Power Stadium imminently.

When will United face Van Nistelrooy?

Two of Van Nistelrooy’s wins in charge of United ironically came against Leicester.

One was a 5-2 EFL Cup thrashing and the other was a 3-0 Premier League win, seemingly leaving Leicester impressed.

This move means that United will be in line to face Van Nistelrooy at the King Power Stadium on March 15, 2025.

Van Nistelrooy will lead Leicester out against United that day, barring a wild change of events, and he will pit himself against Amorim.

Hamburg wanted to appoint Van Nistelrooy but have now missed out with the Dutchman poised to stay in the Premier League after all.
