Every word of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s passionate farewell message to Manchester United

On Monday, Ruben Amorim officially arrived as Manchester United head coach and this saw the exit of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The club legend only returned to Old Trafford in July, and yet is already gone after being found surplus to requirements by Ruben Amorim.

Ruud van Nistelrooy was let go by Manchester United along with Rene Hake and other Erik ten Hag coaches to make way for Amorim along with his team.

Van Nistelrooy’s four-game interim streak in charge of Manchester United however will be fondly remembered as he put smiles back on faces after so much negativity in the past year or so.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy sends message to Manchester United fans

Van Nistelrooy shares a special bond with fans at Old Trafford having been a player and now a coach.

This made his farewell message to fans on his Instagram page even more touching.

“To everyone at Manchester United Football Club, in particular the backroom staff, the players and the fans. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible efforts and support.

“It has been a privilege and honour to represent the club as a player, coach and manager, and I will always cherish the memories we have shared together.

“@ManUtd will always have a special place in my heart, and I hope there are many more glory days at Old Trafford very soon – not only because I want the club to do well, but because you all deserve it! All the best and take care, Ruud.”

The post had several likes from United players such as Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund.

Ruben Amorim decision is the best for all parties

While it is sad to see Van Nistelrooy depart given his status as a fan favourite, it is a bittersweet decision.

In hindsight, it is absolutely the correct decision by Amorim – with the decision falling completely to him, not Ineos.

Van Nistelrooy has aspirations of becoming a manager, and under Amorim, he may have only been fourth or fifth in the pecking order which would have been a shame.

This decision allows Amorim a clean break and a fresh start with his own staff, as Van Nistelrooy can head off and find a job in management – having already been linked with Burnley.

Perhaps one day Van Nistelrooy will return, however, we certainly hope not.
