Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has now broken his silence on a major headline-grabbing story involving Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes was retained as Manchester United captain under Ruben Amorim, who arrived at Old Trafford in 2024 after he left his head coach role at Sporting CP.
The 30-year-old Red Devils skipper was a standout performer for the Premier League club under Amorim and Erik ten Hag in an otherwise woeful 2024-25 season.
Fernandes showed his influential presence in the United first team after the Portugal international netted 19 times and registered 19 assists in 57 matches last season.
The United midfielder’s stunning exploits in the 2024-25 campaign at Old Trafford earned him a record-tying fourth Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award.
Fernandes had been linked with Al Hilal this summer, but the Portugal international rejected a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League to remain at Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim found himself in the limelight after he labelled the current Red Devils side as “maybe the worst” in the club’s history.
The 40-year-old former Sporting CP head coach expressed his frustrations about the Red Devils after United suffered a 3-1 defeat to Brighton in the Premier League.
Following United’s loss to Brighton at Old Trafford in January, Amorim insisted at the time that he knew the press were looking for ‘headlines’ about the Red Devils.
Bruno Fernandes has now suggested that the United head coach was well within his rights to make his comments after the Red Devils had their “worst season.”
“He wasn’t wrong,” he told The Sydney Morning Herald.
“It was our worst season. So, what [can we] do? [Say] that he was wrong and be upset or whatever? No, he’s right. It was our worst season. We had a very bad season. Everyone is aware of that.
“No-one was happy with it. Obviously, he’s the one that has to face the media more times, and he’s the one [who] has to talk more times about it.
“So it’s tough on him … he knows that everything he says is going to become a big highlight for everyone.
“If he would go to the press and say that in front of the press, and not saying anything to us or saying whatever he feels, whatever he thinks – then I will be concerned and I will be worried and I will probably not like it.”

Amorim later walked back on his eye-catching comments and the United manager told TNT Sports in January that it can be “hard” for him to “hide” his “frustration.”
Fernandes added that there is a major expectation with playing for United and admitted that the Red Devils have to overcome the adversity that is facing them.
“Sometimes life is tough,” he continued.
“You have to deal with it. If you want to play for the biggest club in the world, you have to deal with a lot of things.”
United are back in action on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season and the Red Devils will face Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.
