Fabrizio Romano has insisted that Manchester United are not playing down the transfer value that one wantaway first-team player could bring to the club.
Ruben Amorim is keen to clear out the Manchester United first-team squad of players who are surplus to requirements for his long-term project at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are also keen to secure transfer funds through player sales and offloading talent would also free up United’s wage bill for the 2025-26 season.
United are still waiting to sell several players this summer, including the likes of Antony, Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho.
The transfer window will slam shut on 1st September amid the 2025-26 Premier League campaign and United have received interest for certain key players.
United manager Ruben Amorim has already seen one major exit from Old Trafford this summer, with Marcus Rashford agreeing a 12-month loan deal with Barcelona.

Fabrizio Romano on Man Utd’s transfer position on Antony amid Real Betis’ transfer interest
Antony has been waiting on the sidelines for a move away from Old Trafford and the ex-Ajax ace is no longer part of Ruben Amorim’s plans at the Premier League club.
The 25-year-old Brazilian returned to the Red Devils in July after his contract with Real Betis expired in June, following his loan spell in the second half of last season.
Antony is keen for a move to Real Betis again this summer and the wantaway United winger was able to revive his flailing career at the La Liga club during his loan.
Fabrizio Romano has now reiterated that Betis are still interested in the Brazil international and the Spanish club are exploring ways of signing him again.
He also added that “other clubs” could make a move if Betis fail to find a solution to sign Antony, who is also viewed as “another asset” that United can cash in on.
“Then, Antony, there is Betis interest,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“Betis is still working on the Antony deal. Let’s see if financially they can do it. Or other clubs will jump into it.
“But Antony is another asset for Manchester United.”
Real Betis face a challenge to sign Antony from Man Utd amid the transfer interest in the former Ajax winger
United are willing to take a major hit on the initial £82m transfer fee that the Red Devils paid Dutch side Ajax in 2022 to bring Antony to Old Trafford in the first place.
It is believed that the Red Devils are willing to let the former Real Betis attacker leave the Premier League club for a fee of around £20m to £30m this summer.
However, it has been reported that Betis are reluctant to put the fee up immediately for United exile Antony, despite their interest in the former Ajax winger.
According to reports, the La Liga club want to take Antony out on a season-long loan for the 2025-26 campaign with an option to buy the Brazil star in 2026.
Betis could face competition in the race to sign Antony, with the likes of Benfica, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Saudi Pro League clubs all linked with him.
