Roy Keane believes that Ruben Amorim should not walk back on one decision that former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag made over a player at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag kicked off Manchester United’s 2024-25 campaign as Red Devils head coach after he inked a new contract extension in the summer.
However, the 54-year-old Dutchman’s reign at Old Trafford finally came to an end during the current season after he was sacked in late October.
Ten Hag managed only three wins in United’s opening nine Premier League matches and the Red Devils were left 14th in the league table at the time of his sacking.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was Ten Hag’s assistant manager, took charge of United for four matches as interim manager until Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford.
The 39-year-old Portuguese manager inked a contract with United until June 2027 after the Red Devils triggered his £9.25m release clause in his Sporting CP contract.
Amorim succeeded Ten Hag at the start of the November international break and Ruud van Nistelrooy left Old Trafford after three wins and one draw during his spell.

Keane’s position on Man Utd player
Speaking on the Stick to Football show, Roy Keane revealed his feelings on Jadon Sancho amid the Manchester United player’s loan spell at Chelsea this season.
Jadon Sancho saw his relationship with Erik ten Hag fracture last season and he spent the second half of the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
The 24-year-old United winger returned to Old Trafford in the summer after his six-month spell with former club Borussia Dortmund came to an end.
Sancho left United and completed a season-long loan move to Chelsea, with the deal including an obligation to sign him for between £20 to £25m next summer.
Keane admitted that the United loanee has “something” about him, but he remains unconvinced that Ruben Amorim should bring him back to Old Trafford.
“I think Sancho’s definitely got something,” he said on The Overlap.
“But I also look at some lads go to other clubs from United, and they’ll do well, and people go, ‘Well, we shouldn’t have [sold them].’
“No, you’re doing alright because that club’s a better fit for you. We all know sometimes it’s timing for a player.
“I’m not saying Sancho’s the answer to come back to Man United. Maybe Chelsea’s a good fit for him.
“He likes it in London, whatever it might be, the manager down there, who knows? So, I’m not saying that you’d get Sancho back in a hurry.”
Sancho speaks out on Chelsea transfer
Jadon Sancho has secured regular playing time at Chelsea and the former England international has been able to revive his career under Enzo Maresca.
The former Dortmund star has netted twice and picked up three assists in 10 Premier League matches in the current campaign with Chelsea.
Sancho admitted that he has welcomed the “competition” at the Blues and claims everyone is “fighting for positions” at Stamford Bridge.
“It’s amazing – so many young players, great talent,” he told Chelsea’s official website.
“It’s kind of crazy because I’m actually one of the oldest! It’s kind of crazy but it’s nice to be here – training every day is very fun, it’s intense, everybody wants to be the best they can be, and everybody’s fighting for positions, which is great competition for us.”
