Roy Keane told former Manchester United teammate Gary Neville that his position is clear on one key first-team player under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim’s men will return to Premier League action on the weekend against Manchester City at Old Trafford, with kick-off slated for 4:30pm UK time.
The Red Devils were back in action earlier this week for the first time in the Premier League since the end of the March international break.
Nottingham Forest hosted Manchester United at City Ground and Nuno Espirito Santo’s men walked away with all three Premier League points on Tuesday.
Anthony Elanga came back to haunt his former side and the 22-year-old ex-Red Devils talent was the difference-maker in United’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
United are 13th in the Premier League table under manager Amorim and the Red Devils have only managed 10 league wins in 30 matches in the 2024-25 campaign.
The Red Devils are on course for their worst finish in the Premier League since the formation of England’s top-flight domestic league back in 1992.
Amorim’s hopes of securing Champions League football for the 2025-26 campaign now hinge on United lifting the Europa League trophy in the 2024-25 season.

Gary Neville asked Roy Keane if he has made a U-turn on his scathing assessment towards Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes
Bruno Fernandes has remained a key Manchester United first-team player at Old Trafford and the 30-year-old captain has continued to step up for Ruben Amorim.
The United and Portugal midfielder has scored 16 times and registered 16 assists in 45 matches across all competitions for the Red Devils in the 2024-25 campaign.
Roy Keane was deeply critical of Bruno Fernandes in February and the Sky Sports pundit launched a furious tirade on the Portugal international as a club captain.
Fernandes has been in strong form in recent weeks and Gary Neville asked fellow United legend Roy Keane if he had walked back on his criticism of Fernandes.
Speaking on The Overlap, Keane said: “On what? On what? On what?
“He’s an amazing player. Amazing player.
“But I think he could be a better captain. What’s wrong with that? He’s an amazing player. Jesus.”
Ian Wright couldn’t resist teasing Keane by calling Fernandes the Red Devils’ “saviour” before the legendary ex-United captain dropped his own nickname for the player.
“Relax, you [Ian Wright]. He’s their messiah,” Keane said.
Responding to Keane, Ian Wright added: “He’s not a messiah.”
Bruno Fernandes’ response to Man Utd legend Roy Keane shows his true value as a captain and as a player for Ruben Amorim
Bruno Fernandes refused to bite back at Keane’s ruthless criticism and the Red Devils skipper instead said that he has “huge respect” for the United legend.
“I do things in my own way,” he said in March, as per BBC Sport.
“Obviously, it’s not nice to hear those things about you, but at the same time, it motivates you and obviously people think there’s a lot of things you need to improve.
“You have to take it in a positive understanding that whatever people are saying, if it’s a margin to improve or not. I have a huge respect for Roy Keane.
“Obviously not everything I do everyone will like or think in the same way and I respect everyone’s opinion and I have huge respect for Roy Keane and I accept there’s a lot of margin for improvement in my game, in my leadership and everything I do in my life.”
Ruben Amorim’s United side and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side play on Sunday in the final Manchester derby of the 2024-25 Premier League season.
