Diogo Dalot has insisted that it is “undeniable” the qualities that one of his Manchester United teammates possesses as a player under Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils were back in action on Tuesday evening and Nottingham Forest beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Premier League clash at City Ground.

United languish in 13th place in the Premier League table ahead of their showdown with Manchester City in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have struggled in the 2024-25 campaign and Ruben Amorim has faced the tough task of navigating United’s season since his arrival in 2024.

United are 15 points adrift from the Premier League top four and their hopes of challenging for a Champions League qualification spot are over in the league.

But a return to the Champions League for the 2025-26 season could happen if the Red Devils end up lifting the Europa League trophy under United manager Amorim.

United have won only 10 league matches in the current season from 30 fixtures and the Red Devils are on course for their worst Premier League finish ever.

Diogo Dalot makes his position clear on Bruno Fernandes’ role as Man Utd captain under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford

Bruno Fernandes has continued to remain influential in the Manchester United first-team squad, both on the pitch and off it, in the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

However, the 30-year-old Portugal and United midfielder has been met with criticism, including by the likes of Roy Keane over his captaincy at the club.

Despite the criticism levelled against him, Bruno Fernandes has continued to produce for the Red Devils amid their erratic form under manager Ruben Amorim.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Diogo Dalot has claimed that Portugal and United teammate Fernandes “embraces what it really is to play” for the Premier League club.

“I think he makes things easier for everybody,” he said.

“Not just because of his qualities as a football player – because I think that’s undeniable – but the way he conducts himself every day and that he is already there for everybody.

“He always wants to help and then he is really complete when it’s time to laugh, he can have a laugh.

“When it’s time to be more serious, he’s more serious. So, I think he embraces what it really is to play for this club and what it is to be a Man United player.”

Diogo Dalot’s ultimate compliment for Man Utd and Portugal teammate Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes’ form has picked up recently and Dalot argued that the United captain is “one of the best in the world,” with his teammate setting the standards.

“So, it’s always great to have teammates like that and that’s the direction we want to go: to have more players like him,” Dalot continued.

“In terms of behaviour and then on the pitch, I think, like I said previous.

“We will always be judged by what we do on the pitch and I think what he does on the pitch is above average.

“He’s a really good player and he can be really decisive and he’s one of the best in the world.”

United and Manchester City’s Premier League clash on Sunday is slated for a 4:30pm kick-off time in the UK.
