Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay wish Axel Tuanzebe well after loan switch from United to Villa

Axel Tuanzebe clinched his loan move to Aston Villa at the weekend. After a drive down the M6, the defender sealed a season long loan switch.

The move is a good opportunity for Tuanzebe after his United prospects were limited further by Raphael Varane’s imminent arrival.

Tuanzebe posed with the Villa shirt along with his brother who is his agent, and he is looking forward to the upcoming challenge.

The move brought plenty of reaction from teammates past and present.

United star Scott McTominay congratulated Tuanzebe on his loan move, as did former academy teammate Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

Former teammate Romelu Lukaku also wished him well. He could be coming up against him amid his own ongoing £97.5 million switch to Chelsea.

Tuanzebe’s former Villa teammate Tammy Abraham and former coach John Terry also had words of encouragement for the centre-back.

Tuanzebe is clearly a popular player among his fellow professionals and he needs this chance to go and move his career forwards.

He played a key role in helping Villa win promotion two seasons ago, and there was debate whether United should have accepted Villa’s advances to bring him back at the time.

United’s lack of defensive options, including an injury to Eric Bailly, led to him staying, and then he suffered badly with injuries himself.

Now Tuanzebe has a fresh shot at playing regular Premier League football and he will want to make the most of it.
