Manchester United have a problem up front with a serious lack of goals.
Rasmus Hojlund was one of the losers from Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Fulham. It was yet another game where he did not score – and did not look close to scoring.
Former United defender Rio Ferdinand told TNT Sports that ‘fingers will be pointed’ at Rasmus Hojlund, whose one saving grace is that teammate Joshua Zirkzee cannot score either.
With the transfer window open, Manchester United would ideally sign another striker, funds permitting. Whether that’s possible, we will find out over the next week.

Rio Ferdinand wants Victor Osimhen
Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United should sign Napoli frontman Victor Osimhen as a top priority.
‘I’ve watched him [Hojlund] the last two games closely and I’m like, it just doesn’t add up.
“I’d be going to get Osimhen now. If we could do it from a financial standpoint, get him on loan, I’d go and get Osimhen now.
“Guarantees you somebody who can get on the end of things, scores goals, he’s experienced, done it at the top level.”
Victor Osimhen’s goals fired Napoli to the Serie A title in 2022/23, but a fallout with the club led to him being sent out on loan to Galatasaray this season.
Osimhen has scored 12 goals in 15 games in the Turkish Super Lig, also providing four assists.
In early January, The Sun claimed Manchester United and Napoli were eyeing a swap deal involving Marcus Rashford. But there has been a lack of movement backing it up.
Rio Ferdinand on Chido Obi
Manchester United signed prolific teenager Chido Obi in the summer from Arsenal. The 17-year-old has struck 10 games for United’s academy sides already.
Obi has trained with United’s first team at Carrington – but when asked about bringing him through to compete for a first team spot, Ferdinand pointed to what is missing, that Osimhen could provide.
He explained that United’s current situation would place too much pressure on the teenager, who is still learning: “Big talent but that’s bringing another kid in.
“That’s a big part of recruitment now buying young talented players – but there does need to be an element of who they are going to learn from on the job.”
