Manchester United booked their place in the FA Youth Cup fifth round on Friday night, with the U18s beating Preston 5-2 at Leigh Sports Village.
An encourging first-half performance put Manchester United in a strong position to progress in the FA Youth Cup, which they achieved despite conceding two goals in the second half.
Chido Obi was among the standout performers for the U18s after scoring a brace against Preston, but Reece Munro led from the back.
The 17-year-old has impressed since his switch from Arsenal in the summer, adding to his account of four FA Youth Cup goals in two matches.
Obi lead the line brilliantly against Preston and caused several problems for their defence.
Other than Obi, three other United academy stars got on the scoresheet. Jack Fletcher, Amir Ibragimov and Munro all contributed in terms of goals to secure United’s place in the next round of the FA Youth Cup.
United beat Preston 5-2 at the end as the Reds plan on going all the way in the competition this season.

Chido Obi adds to his season tally
Obi is among United’s U18s top scorers this season.
The former Arsenal academy starlet has scored 10 goals for Adam Lawrence’s side this season.
However, the injured Gabriele Biancheri tops the charts with 14 goals.
James Scanlon, who was unlucky not to add to his tally against Preston tonight, is ranked second with 11 goals.
Obi has a chance to catch up with Biancheri while the Welsh forward recovers from injury. He already has an impressive record in the FA Youth Cup.
Ruben Amorim must keep an eye on Obi’s development
With Obi scoring goals for fun at youth level, United have a potential gem on their hands.
Ruben Amorim has shown faith in United’s youth players, with Toby Collyer getting a run in the team recently after catching the head coach’s eye in training.
Obi needs to continue working hard if he has dreams of making United’s first team.
There’s a shortage of goalscorers in the first team so fans would like to see Obi and Biancheri given a chance in the future.
