BBC Sport pundit Troy Deeney has now named one key player from the Manchester United vs West Ham clash in his Premier League Team of the Week.
Ruben Amorim’s men suffered their 17th Premier League defeat of the season after West Ham defeated Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Graham Potter’s side went into half-time with a 1-0 scoreline on the board after Tomas Soucek broke the deadlock for West Ham against United at Old Trafford.
West Ham extended their advantage in the second half of the match after Jarrod Bowen netted in the 57th minute and United were left trailing the Hammers.
The Red Devils were unable to rally back against Graham Potter’s men and West Ham ensured their win over United by walking away with all three points.
West Ham’s 2-0 victory at Old Trafford allowed the Hammers to leapfrog both Tottenham and United in the Premier League table on the weekend.
The Hammers moved to 15th place, United dropped to 16th place and Tottenham languish in 17th place with only two Premier League matches remaining this season.
United have only managed 10 wins from 36 matches in their abysmal 2024-25 campaign and the Red Devils are winless in their last five league fixtures.

Why BBC Sport pundit Troy Deeney singled out Tomas Soucek from West Ham’s 2-0 Premier League win vs Man Utd at Old Trafford
Manchester United are unable to climb back into the top half of the table and will end their woeful campaign with their worst finish in the Premier League era.
The Red Devils’ lifeline for their 2024-25 season is dependent on their Europa League run, with Ruben Amorim’s United side now in the final of the competition.
United knocked Athletic Club out of the semi-finals of the Europa League and the Red Devils will now meet Tottenham for an all-English showdown in the final.
Speaking in his BBC Sport column, Troy Deeney picked Tomas Soucek for his Premier League Team of the Week after West Ham’s victory at Old Trafford.
“Sometimes you watch games and guys just stand out on the pitch,” he said.
“Whenever you watch West Ham, Soucek is one of those guys who stands out.
“He has a solid defensive framework. He heads it, kicks it, tackles. Offensively, he’s a threat as well.
“He’s a really important player for them and they’re going to have to think of a way of moving on from him at some point because him and Jarrod Bowen keep stepping up for West Ham.”
Ruben Amorim keeps it real with honest admission about Man Utd’s Premier League campaign after the West Ham defeat
Following United’s latest setback in the Premier League, Amorim admitted that he was deeply disappointed with the Red Devils’ form in their league campaign.
“I think… Are we supposed to feel a manager of Manchester United in that position, embarrassed, and it’s hard to accept?” he asked, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“And I think everybody has to think seriously about a lot of things here.
“Everybody is thinking about the final, the final is not the issue in this moment in our club, we have bigger, bigger things to think [about]. And we have to change a lot of things in the end of the season.”
United will now travel away to Stamford Bridge and will meet Chelsea in their penultimate Premier League match of the 2024-25 season.
