Raphael Varane sends message to Manchester United fans as Rio Ferdinand reacts to his performance
Raphael Varane was a class act as Manchester United beat Tottenham 3-0.
The defender was making his return to action after a groin injury suffered with France.
Varane sent a message to supporters after the victory, showing how happy he was to help his team out.
Last week Varane was not fit enough to be on the bench as United were slaughtered by Liverpool.
His return helped United shore up the backline amid a tactical change to go with three central defenders.
Varane helped out Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire, who were so poor in recent matches.
Former United centre-back Rio Ferdinand praised Varane’s impact.
Varane showed his experience
Varane has won four Champions League titles and one World Cup and all that experience has helped him adapt quickly to the Premier League.
The Frenchman looks like he has played in England for years, with Tottenham rarely troubling him.
We can only wonder what the result against Liverpool might have been like if he played.
Next week United play City, who were beaten 2-0 at home by Crystal Palace earlier today.
Varane will be tested against City a lot more than he was against Tottenham, but he has given us plenty of reason to be confident he will step up once again.
