Manchester United have now been linked with a move for Inter Milan’s Carlos Augusto this summer. Here is everything you need to know about the Brazilian.

So far this summer, Manchester United have brought in three players and sold one, but Ineos are far from finished with another three signings at least anticipated.

Youri Tielemans has joined for £35m, Andrey Santos arrived from Chelsea for £48m, and Karl Darlow is a free transfer from Leeds.

Now, rumours suggest that Carlos Augusto could also be considered for an option.

Manchester United enquired about Carlos Augusto

United have long been linked with signing a new left-back this summer, and Inter Milan’s Carlos Augusto is the latest name to be mentioned.

Ben Jacobs has brought Augusto to the rumour table, as he appeared on The United Stand, revealing that United took initial steps to sign the Brazilian.

“I’ve heard that Manchester United made an enquiry, actually, in April for Carlos Augusto as well, who’s at Inter Milan. Roma and Atalanta are two sides interested in him. Inter want to keep. He’s capable of playing in left midfield or at left-back.”

Augusto is fresh off a silverware-laden campaign with Inter Milan, and United could do well to make him the signing to deputise Luke Shaw.

Who is Carlos Augusto?

Carlos Augusto is a 27-year-old left-back who currently plays for Inter Milan and the Brazilian national team.

He joined Inter in 2023 initially on loan from Monza, before he was then signed permanently for a little over £10m.

Augusto came through the Corinthians academy before Monza snapped him up.

Despite being a four-time Brazil international, Augusto wasn’t in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans at the World Cup, as he favoured Douglas Santos. But not even being in the squad is surprising, considering how solid he was for Inter last season.

Augusto has won a lot with Inter, and a new challenge could be on the cards for him.

If United do want to sign Augusto, he will probably cost around the £20m mark, which wouldn’t be a terrible fee if Ineos’ recruitment team decides he is the right signing.
